Egypt’s parents met each other when they were teenagers and only starting to develop their music careers. Alicia once shared in her interview to Marie Claire UK, that the first time she met Swizz, she was not impressed by him, as she thought he behaved too ostentatiously. At those times many rappers and hip-hoppers collaborated together, but Alicia refused to record a single with Swizz, escaping all the opportunities. However, when they met again at the end of 2008, their attitude to each other changed a lot, and they started dating. It all happened in one year of 2010: Alicia and Swizz became engaged in May 2010, right after his quick divorce from his wife, singer Mashonda Tifrere, then married in July 2010, and she gave birth to Egypt in October.
