Joey Buttafuoco: The Man Who Survived a Scandal and a Shooting

Published

on

Who is Joey Buttafuoco?

Perhaps the title of this article would best explain who Joey is, a man who survived the scandal and the shooting, although he was neither the one who was shot nor the one who pulled the trigger. However, all this made him a minor celebrity, often interviewed and featured on mainstream and tabloid news programs.

Joey was born on 11 March 1956, and hails from Massapequa, New York State USA. He spent his early life in his hometown, then upon matriculating from high school in 1974, he didn’t go to college but began working as a mechanic. In 1977, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jo Connery; they have two children together, Paul and Jessica, and subsequently the family moved to Long Island, New York.

Without his scandalous life story, Joey Buttafuoco is just a regular guy from Long Island, who owned a body shop. He worked hard and lived a quiet life with his family, away from the public eye. However, one day his life changed forever.

His affair with Amy Fisher

The day which changed his life upside-down was the one when Amy Fisher entered his garage, with her father who took his car to be repaired. It was back in 1990, and at the time, Amy was 15 years old, and Joey was 34. To find a way to see him again, Amy would intentionally damage her car which she got as a present for her 16th birthday.

Allegedly, Amy and Joey began a sexual relationship in 1991, however, Amy stated later that their affair began while she was still underage.

Shooting

Amy wanted Joey to be just with her and she was jealous of Joey’s wife, Mary Jo. On 9 May 1992, Amy came to Joey’s and Mary Jo’s house pretending to be her (fictitious) younger sister, Ann Marie. Mary Jo answered the door and Amy told her about the affair Joey and she had, offering Mary Jo a T-shirt with the logo of Joey’s auto body shop, as proof of the affair. Mary Jo said that Joey often gives those T-shirts to his customers so she didn’t believe her. They talked for about 15 minutes when the confrontation escalated and Mary Jo demanded that Amy leave the front porch of their house.

When Mary Jo turned to go inside, Amy shot her in the face with a gun. Amy dropped the T-shirt and gun and ran to the car where Peter Guagenti, the man who helped her to obtain a gun, waited for her. He told Amy to return for the shirt and the gun and they then drove off.

Mary Jo’s neighbors called 911, and she was rushed to the hospital where her surgery lasted all night; luckily, she survived. The police came and interviewed Joey who told them that Amy could be the possible shooter. The next day, when Mary Jo regained consciousness, she recognized Amy from a photo.

Amy was arrested and charged with attempted murder. On 23 September 1992, Amy pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, and was sentenced to five to 15 years jail on 2 December 1992.

Joey Buttafuoco’s arrest

The shooting and the subsequent court case received significant media attention, and after Amy was convicted, it was Joey’s turn to face the consequences. Joey, at first, claimed that he hadn’t had an affair with Amy, and that actually Amy invented their alleged relationship, so he wasn’t prosecuted.

However, in February 1993, after Amy accused him of rape and testified against him, and produced a dated hotel receipt as evidence, Joey was charged with 19 counts of statutory rape, endangering the welfare of a child, and sodomy. Initially, he pleaded not guilty, but later changed his plea, admitting he had sex with Amy when she was 16 and that he knew her age at the time. He was sentenced to six months in prison, and was released after serving four months and nine days.

Where is Joey Buttafuoco today?

After his release from prison, Joey and his wife moved to California, but Mary Jo filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2003. Two years later, Joey married a woman named Evanka Franjko, who also filed for divorce in 2007, but later withdrew her divorce petition.

Joey had problems with the law from the late ’90s to the early 2000s. In 1995, he was charged with solicitation of prostitution – he was fined and placed on probation for two years. In 2004, he committed auto insurance fraud and was sentenced to a year of jail and five years of probation. For the rest of his life, Joey is prohibited from working in the auto body industry (in California).

In 2005, probation officers found ammunition in his home, and after Joey pleaded no contest, he served his sentence from 8 January to 28 April 2007.

What happened to Amy Fisher after prison?

In May 1999, Amy was released from prison, and began working as a columnist for the local daily newspapers. In 2003, Amy married Louis Bellera, and they have three children together. Amy’s biography “If I Knew Then…”, written by Robbie Woliver, was released in 2004.

If you’ve wondered if Amy and Joey ever reunited, they were seen together in sessions filmed for “Entertainment Tonight” and its spin-off, “The Insider”. Amy then stated that she wants to heal and move on with her life. Amy and Joey met again in May 2007, and they were seen having dinner in one of Long Island’s restaurants. Later, a television producer, David Krief, said that it was an attempt to develop a reality-TV show.

In October 2007, various tabloids including the New York Post reported that Amy’s husband sold a sex tape of him and Amy to an American pornographic film studio, Red Light District Video. Later that month, frames from the tape showing Amy naked were posted on the studio’s website. In January 2008, Amy stated that she’d settled with the studio; she made a promotional appearance at Retox, New York City.

In the following year, Amy released her pay-per-view pornographic movie, “Amy Fisher: Totally Nude & Exposed”. Her second adult movie “Deep Inside Amy Fisher” was released in September 2010, and it was announced that this is the first of eight of Amy’s adult films. However, in 2011, she stated that she’d stopped filming pornographic movies. Four years later, she divorced her husband. As of 2023, Amy is a webcam model.

From Swiss Beauty to Plastic Surgery Disaster: Jocelyn Wildenstein

Published

on

Who is Jocelyn Wildenstein?

Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein was born as Jocelyne Perisset in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 5 August 1940, making Leo her zodiac sign. She’s perhaps only known for her ‘catlike appearance’, caused by numerous cosmetic surgeries which she’s undergone; Jocelyn’s also known for being a former wife of the late American billionaire businessman Alec Nathan Wildenstein.

Education and early life

Jocelyn was raised in Lausanne by her father Armand Perisset who was employed at a sporting goods store, and mother whose name hasn’t been revealed; Armand died from pneumonia in Kenya in 1997. Because Jocelyn hasn’t spoken of having siblings, most of her fans believe that she’s an only child.

The details regarding Jocelyn’s early life have been kept away from media, but it’s known that she studied at a local high school in Lausanne, and was mostly into dancing and playing sports during her time there; Jocelyn was a member of the school’s cheerleading team, and also took creative writing lessons.

She matriculated in 1958, and then didn’t enroll at college, wanting to pursue a career straight away.

Love life and relationships

Jocelyn was 17 when she began dating Swiss film producer Cyril Piguet, perhaps known best for producing the 1964 movie “Un Commerce Tranquille”.

Not long after she and Cyril broke up, Jocelyn began dating Italian-French moviemaker Sergio Gobbi, and the two lived together in Paris, France; she was interested in numerous activities during her time there, and became a licensed pilot.

She was working as a model when Saudi businessman and arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi introduced her to Alec Wildenstein; some people believed that Jocelyn was a prostitute prior to meeting Alec, but no evidence was ever provided to support these claims, while Jocelyn denied the rumors. She and Alec married on 30 April 1978, after having been together for around a year, and Jocelyn gave birth to their children Alec Jr. and Diane Wildenstein.

Jocelyn and Alec’s marriage didn’t end well; she caught Alec sleeping with a 19-year-old Russian model in their home’s bedroom, and Alec then threatened Jocelyn with a gun. He spent the night in jail, while the case’s judge Marilyn Diamond received death threats through mail. Jocelyn’s lawyer was Ed Rollins, while Kenneth Godt and Bernard Clair both offered legal counsel. The divorce was finalized in 1999, and Jocelyn wasn’t allowed to spend the alimony payments for cosmetic surgery. Alec died on 18 February 2008, aged 67.

From 2003 through 2016, she was in a relationship with French fashion designer Lloyd David Klein; the relationship was highly publicized because of its domestic incidents.

Jocelyn’s unattached as of April 2023, was once married to Alec Wildenstein, and they have two children together.

Cosmetic surgery and bankruptcy

Jocelyn’s undergone numerous cosmetic surgical procedures, even though she claims that she hasn’t, and that her looks have been affected by her Swiss heritage; she has, however, admitted that it cost over $1 million to try and make her eyes look more ‘catlike’.

Her catlike appearance has caused media outlets to refer to her as ‘The Bride of Wildenstein’, ‘The Lion Queen’ and ‘Catwoman’; Alec commented on Jocelyn’s appearance following their divorce, claiming that she believed she was able to ‘fix her face as if it were a piece of furniture’, and that he wasn’t able to convince her otherwise.

Jocelyn’s always enjoyed leading a lavish lifestyle; while she was still married to Alec, it was reported that her telephone bill was around $60,000 a year, while she spent more than half a million dollars on wine and food per year.

She received $2.5 billion as divorce settlement, while Alec was to pay her $100 million a year for 13 years; Jocelyn still somehow managed to spend most of her money, and filed for bankruptcy in 2018.

Most popular YouTube videos

Jocelyn’s highly popular on the internet, especially on the video sharing service YouTube, as many people have posted numerous videos about Jocelyn onto their channels. Most of these aim to show Jocelyn’s appearance before and after surgery, while others cover her love life; we’re going to mention three of the most viewed videos amongst these, as they’re contributed to Jocelyn’s ‘popularity’ on the internet.

Her #1 video “Plastic Surgery Disaster (Jocelyn Wildenstein)” was uploaded by Raphael Apuan on 6 May 2009, and has since been watched over eight million times; it’s a compilation of pictures which show Jocelyn’s face after all her surgery.

The second most popular video “15 Celebrity Plastic Surgery Disasters” was uploaded by FList on 26 March 2021, and has since been watched close to 4.5 million times; some of the other people featured in the video include American actress and model Shauna Sand, British singer Pete Burns and American actress Joan Van Ark.

Jocelyn’s #3 video “Top 10 Celebrities Who Destroyed Their Bodies For Fame” was uploaded by Top 10 Beyond The Screen on 11 June 2019, and has since been watched over two million times; it’s another list of people who’ve destroyed their bodies through surgery.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Jocelyn gave an interview to “The New York Times” magazine sometime in the 2010s, stating that she’s never been interested in having a ‘traditional career’, and that her talents lay elsewhere; she also stated that she would’ve succeeded as an interior designer.

Alec’s father was against his marriage with Jocelyn, and didn’t attend the ceremony; he then encouraged Alec’s former girlfriend, American actress and model Maria Kimberly to win him back.

Jocelyn and Alec had their first cosmetic surgery together, which then turned into an obsession for her.

Alec and Jocelyn owned the ranch Ol Jogi, which numbered close to 400 staff, 55 lakes, two swimming pools, 200 buildings and 400km of road; for their daughter Diane’s 17th birthday, Alec spent $3 million to build her a mansion on the ranch.

After her divorce was finalized, some magazines referred to Jocelyn as a ‘space alien’.

Jocelyn’s age is 82. She has blue eyes and brown hair, is 5ft 4ins (1.62m) tall and weighs around 145lbs (65kgs).

How rich are “Little People, Big World” cast? RANKED

Published

on

“Little People, Big World” premiered on TLC in March 2006 and has become staple viewing in millions of households around the world ever since. The latest seasons have brought plenty of drama pertaining to Matt Roloff’s new relationship and his decision to sell part of the famous Roloff Farm, which has caused quite a rift in the family.

With over 15 years in the entertainment industry under their belts, many expect the Roloffs to be comfortably wealthy, thanks to reality TV paychecks and off-screen endorsements. Stay tuned if you want to find out who the richest cast member is.

  1. Jacob Roloff – $300,000

Of the adult cast members, Jacob Roloff comes in at the bottom of the list with a relatively humble $300,000 net worth. This is unsurprising, as he reportedly opted out of his contract in 2016, and since then has only made occasional appearances in the series, despite staying on close terms with his family.

After much speculation, Jacob broke his silence in 2020, claiming to have left the show after being molested and groomed by one of its executive field producers during his formative years. Matt and Amy’s youngest son added that, while he didn’t blame anyone for not realizing what had happened, he questioned the morality of exposing young children to the world of reality TV.

Although not much is known about Jacob’s current profession, we can confirm that he was invited back to Roloff Farms in 2022 to help his father out with maintenance work. This came shortly after Matt’s spectacular falling-out with his other two sons, Zach and Jeremy. We’re not sure if Jacob took-up Matt on his offer, but we do know that he leads a lowkey lifestyle with his wife and young son.

  1. Jeremy Roloff – $500,000

Although many online sources list Jeremy’s net worth at $700,000, we find that $500,000 is a more likely figure, as the former camera operator only earned $5,000 per episode of “Little People, Big World” at the height of his involvement. In 2018, he and his wife Audrey left the show to focus on parenthood and their careers.

That’s not to say that Jeremy doesn’t keep busy. In August 2019, the creative became president of The Roloff Company. The umbrella company oversees his and Audrey’s ambitious business ventures, which includes publishing books, marriage and finance journals, and even a podcast.

Jeremy also sells lightroom presets packages for mobile and desktop use. These presets packages are often used by influencers or business owners to make their social media posts look more polished and professional on a budget.

  1. Zach Roloff – $700,000

Reputable sources confirm that Zach Roloff’s net worth is $700,000. The bulk of the reality TV personality’s income comes from “Little People, Big World”, as he is said to earn over $7,000 per episode. Despite his complicated relationship with Matt, Zach has almost always worked on the family farm as well.

With a million Instagram followers and thousands of likes on every social media post he launches, Zach has also found a new income stream in paid partnerships and sponsorships. Although he has plenty on his plate as a father of three, Zach occasionally works with small online businesses to promote their products in exchange for an undisclosed fee.

Nevertheless, Zach will probably be taking time off from work for the next few months, as in February 2023 he underwent brain surgery. Shortly after the procedure, he explained to his fans: “I had a shunt revision surgery after getting really sick. The shunt has always been something I’ve had, but became very real this past week for our family.”

  1. Amy Roloff – $5 million

The Roloff family matriarch is a formidable businesswoman in her own right, with a well-deserved seven-figure net worth. Apart from her role as a permanent cast member of “Little People, Big World”, Amy is a baker, author, entrepreneur, and public speaker.

Highlights in Amy’s career include being invited to give a keynote speech at the prestigious Empowering Women in Business Conference in 2015. We don’t have a definite figure for how much Amy charges per public speaking gig, but she’s done several over the years, and is also a regular in the Get Motivated business seminar speaking series.

Amy also earned herself a nice sum of money by selling her portion of Roloff Farms to her ex-husband, Matt. The reality TV powerhouse used the cash to move into her own place with her then-fiancé, Christopher Marek. Despite divorcing, Matt and Amy were tied together by their business ventures, such as their salsa line, for many years; the companies have since been liquidated.

  1. Matt Roloff – $6 million

It’s perhaps unsurprising that Matt Roloff hasn’t been on speaking terms with most of the family for months. Since his controversial move to sell part of the famous Roloff Farms – a decision which was partly encouraged by his fiancé Caryn Chandler – Matt has faced an increasing backlash both on and offline.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp5Ay1dLkYc/

However, Matt is a businessman at heart and has essentially built a small empire from the ground up. Despite his criminal record and failed business endeavors, Matt has proven himself to be a true entrepreneur. His revenue streams include reality TV checks, online partnerships and product promotion, and book sales.

Lately, Matt has been working on several new projects which he will reveal in due course. He has an active YouTube channel on which he regularly uploads videos, making him a prolific content creator. Like his ex-wife, Matt is also known to do the odd public speaking gig as well.

Although Matt and Caryn recently announced their engagement, it’s unclear if they will monetize this new development in their relationship. Caryn, who was a trusted family friend and one of the Roloff family’s employees before dating Matt, is a low-key woman who rarely uses social media, and prefers to stay out of the limelight. In fact, she left the show in November 2022 due to the growing tension between herself and Matt’s family. Although a wedding special could earn Matt and Caryn a lot of money, it’s looking unlikely for the time being.

The 24th season of “Little People, Big World” premiered on TLC in January 2023. It’ll be many months until a new season is confirmed, but as the Roloffs signed a multi-year contract with the network, we’ll probably be seeing them on screen in a few months.
