Annie Guest is an American Dance Director, and one of the adopted children of popular American actress, author, and activist Jamie Lee Curtis.

Early Life and Family

Annie Guest was born on 13 December 1986, in Los Angeles, California USA, and is one of the two children adopted by Jamie Lee Curtis and British-American Christopher Guest, a musician, comedian, screenwriter, and director.  After having learned from the doctors that they couldn’t bear children due to infertility, they immediately decided to go through an adoption process.  Annie came from an open adoption, where both her biological parents and adoptive parents openly discussed the adoption.

Her brother Thomas was adopted nine years later thru a closed arrangement, in which no one knew certain details of the adoption.

Both sides of her adoptive parents came from incredible bloodline. Her father, Christopher, currently holds the English title of the 5th Baron Haden-Guest of the Great Saling, Country of Essex in England. Her grandfather was Christopher William Graham Guest who was appointed Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, an active member of the UK House of Lords.  When the elder Christopher died, her father inherited the title and attended the upper house of the Parliament of the UK regularly until a new law was enacted – the House of Lords Act 1999 prohibited peer heritage as a way to gain a seat in the House of Lords.

Her father still retains the title, but is no longer a part of the English parliament. Also, because of their adoption, she and her brother are ineligible to inherit the English title – the next in line is their adoptive uncle.

Annie’s mother, Jamie Lee, has Hollywood royalty lineage. Her grandparents were actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, who both earned several prestigious acting nominations in their heyday. Her grandfather was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1958’s “The Defiant One,” and her grandmother was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in one of Alfred Hitchcock’s popular novels turned into film, “Psycho.”

Her grandfather only met her when she was two years old, as her mother had a difficult relationship with him. Tony was an absentee father for a time when Jamie was growing up.

Annie grew up under the prying eyes of the media in Hollywood, as her mother would constantly bring her to movie sets and red carpet events. She would not be able to escape the public’s interest as her mother was part of many hit box office movies including the Halloween franchise series (1978, 1981, 1998, 2002, 2018) from which she gained the title “Scream Queen;” “True Lies” (1994) with Arnold Swarzenegger; “Forever Young” (1992) with Mel Gibson; and “Freaky Friday” (2003) with Lindsay Lohan.

Her father may not be as famous as her mother, but it doesn’t mean he wasn’t successful as an artist.

Christopher won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1976 for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy-Variety or Music Special for the “The Lily Tomlin Special.” He also received a Grammy award for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture or Other Visual Media, with the song “A Mighty Wind” in 2003.

Annie’s interest in dancing started at the very young age of three, and it didn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Having two successful parents in the field of arts lured her into exploring her artistic side. Her parents saw her passion for it and enrolled her in the dance school, “MNR Dance Factory,” when she was eight. By the age of 16, she was teaching other people how to dance, and from then on she participated in many dance competitions locally and internationally, in which she won several awards.

Educational Background

Little else is known about her primary and secondary schooling, but she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts major in Dance from the Kenyon College in Los Angeles, California in 2008.

Career

After college, Annie went back to MNR Dance Factory. Currently, she holds the position of Team Director in the company, and offers classes on different styles of dancing including hip-hop, jazz, tap, and modern. Her former bio at MNR Dance Factory indicated that prior to her work in the dance school, she gave dance lessons at Archer School for Girls, Paul Revere Middle School, and Windward School.

Personal Life

Annie married Jason Wolf on 28 July 2019, in their 1920s renovated Spanish Colonial family home in California, with only family and close friends as witnesses.

It was a private ceremony and no details were given to the public, except for her mother’s congratulatory post on her Instagram account. The couple is quite private and lives a low-key life. Her last public appearance was when she attended the movie premiere of her mother’s movie, “Halloween,” in 2018, along with the rest of the family. Her mother truly understands her children’s need for privacy as she never overshares. From Jamie’s thousands of photos on her Instagram account, there were only a couple of photos that capture the entire family.

Anne and her husband do not have any children, as of mid-2020.

  • She gives dancing lessons to people with special needs, such as autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and those with motor/developmental disabilities.
  • While she doesn’t have any interest being in front of the camera, she doesn’t have any problem working behind it. In the movie, “For Your Consideration,” which her father directed, she worked as a set staff assistant.

  • When her maternal grandfather died, her mother was cut off from his will along with her uncles and aunts. A lawsuit was filed by her Aunt Kelly who was Tony’s eldest child and her mom’s only sister from the same mother. Apparently, the will was changed a few months before Tony died. Jamie Lee chose not to say anything about it publicly.
