From American Football to Wrestling
While in high school, Dwayne joined wrestling, track and field, and gridiron football teams. He distinguished himself as an American Football player, and so earned a full scholarship to study at the University of Miami. He played in the college team, and was a member of their national championship team in 1991. Dwayne graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies in Physiology and Criminology in 1995, but suffered a back injury during the same year, and due to that he wasn’t selected in the NFL Draft. So Dwayne then signed a three-year contract with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, but in the following year he decided to quit his football career and move his focus to wrestling.

In 1996 he signed a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which is now known as WWE, and competed until 2004 when he left to become an actor. Dwayne also published his autobiographical book “The Rock Says” in 2000, which topped The New York Times Best Seller list. Moreover, he produced and hosted the TNT reality competitive show “The Hero” in 2013, after which he hosted the TNT reality series “Wake Up Call” in 2014.
Most recently, he created and hosted the sports competition series “The Titan Games”, aired on NBC in 2019. Dwayne has also announced that he will create the bodybuilding show, entitled “Athleticon”, with his ex-wife Dany Garcia, set to be released in October 2020.
