Get to know Jeff Lutz

Jeff Lutz was born and raised in Pennsylvania. His father bought him his first ride, a 1974 Chevrolet Nova Hatchback, but he had never driven it. When he was in his teens, he drove without a license and was caught, so it took a while before he could enjoy driving.

How Jeff got into the racing scene

His brother, who came home to Pennsylvania after serving in the Gulf War, called Jeff up and asked him to look at a car with him, a 1970 Camaro. Jeff could still vividly recall how his brother drove the car up the road and then turned around to ask him if he wanted to drive it. As soon as Jeff was behind the wheel, he said that he dumped the clutch and let her fly, and then told his brother to buy it. Soon they were at the track, and he was hooked.

The ‘74 Nova was supposed to be his first race car but life got in the way as he had kids. It was after he bought a house that he purchased a 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc-Z. He thought it was fast and felt incredible to drive, and was the first car that he cut up and then put big tires under it, to became his first race car.

His foray into the racing world might have come later in life, but he more than made up for it with an impressive list of accomplishments. He began making a name for himself as a serious contender at the NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, said to be the ‘ultimate street car motorsport series,’ under the Pro Street or Pro Mod Class, and it went from there.

Drag Week and Drag Weekend champion

Jeff won Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week twice – it’s a competition in which participants drive their street-legal drag cars 1,000 miles along a designated route with several checkpoints, and make at least one quarter-mile run at each of the four drag strips on five consecutive days. Support vehicles aren’t allowed except for a small trailer that the race car can tow and which contains tools, spare parts, and anything else that one will need for repair and maintenance. With the motto, “Drive it fast, make it last,” the one with the lowest average elapsed time (ET), will be declared the champion.

Jeff along with his crew chief, Scott Murray, always came close to winning since 2009 with impressive timeslips, but it was only in 2014 that he scored the title of Drag Week Champion aboard the “Evil Twin,” a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, with a week-long average ET of 6.84 seconds and speed of 212 miles per hour. He did it again in 2016 with his 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Mod, nicknamed “Mad Max,” with an average of 6.1918 at 240.018mph, making it the quickest in Drag Week history.

Hot Rod’s Drag Weekend is 500 miles of street driving, and three days of quarter-mile racing; it follows the format of Drag Week. For the first-ever Drag Weekend in 2015, Jeff with his black Pro Mod Camaro was declared the winner out of the 350 participants who took on the challenge. His weekend average was 6.4767-second ET at 211.39mph.

Street racing is illegal, so it’is done under the cover of darkness in some abandoned road. A production company called Pilgrim Studios delved into the world of street racing – Oklahoma was where it all began in 2013 when it made its TV debut, and the guys competed to get on the List of the top 10 fastest in the area. The series had become so big that the network featured street racing scenes in other cities through various spin-off series. Before long, fans were treated to thrilling shows, in which the best of the best in America competed to earn the title of the fastest on the street, and on a No-Prep track.

Jeff met Justin “Big Chief” Shearer and Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington in 2008, during his first Drag Week race at Muncie, Indiana. When the reality TV series started, Big Chief reached out to him, and was banking on his help with the race car, popularly known as the Crow. Jeff flew to Oklahoma and lent his expertise in building the fastest ride for not just Big Chief but also to many of the guys who wanted to get on top of The List. His expertise as a chassis builder and fabricator was quite well-known in the industry.

A lot of people think that it was all ‘Hollywood-made,’ just for show, but it couldn’t be farther from the truth. The guys were true street racers, and the Top Ten List as well as Cash Days were real. It was an eye-opener for him, as he said, ‘They made me a street racer! Because I’m a drag racer, and to see what they can do on the street, I was like: “You’ve got to be kidding me!”’ Initially, his involvement was just on the mechanical side of things, but he soon found himself racing to get on that famous List. In season nine, he went straight to the top with “Mad Max,” but his reign came to a halt when Big Chief nixed Pro Mods from the List to shake things up. He came back with a ‘57 Chevy, and made it to the No.4 spot.

Filming for “Street Outlaws” involved actual racing, so the risk of a car crashing would always be there. As the racers would always say, ‘it wasn’t a matter of if, but when.’

On 9 May 2021, news came out that Jeff was involved in an accident while they were filming for the TV series’ upcoming season. Photos of the wrecked car circulated on social media, and his fans were deeply concerned about Jeff’s condition as the damage to the car looked quite extensive. Chuck Seitsinger, one of the cast members of the show, took to Facebook to share his disgust over the leaked photos as it was deemed insensitive, and he believed that the people who did it just wanted to boost their number on social media. What’s worse was that Jeff’s wife, who was on the first flight out, got to see those photos even before reaching his side, so one could only imagine what she was feeling at that time.

Before the crash, Jeff said in an interview that he didn’t just want to make it onto America’s List; he wanted to come out on top. He was out to prove that he was one serious contender, as if anybody would ever doubt that, considering his history on the tracks. He was behind the wheel of his yellow ‘57 Chevy when he raced against Damon Merchant who was in his ‘68 Camaro called Rogue. As he crossed the finish line, he lost control of the car and hit the curb on the opposite lane before it spun around and flipped. He believed he was going 170mph when it happened. The only thing he remembered was that the car hit a bump on the road before sliding right, and for a moment he thought Damon was going to hit him.

It seemed that he lost consciousness or everything was a bit hazy at that time, because he said that when he came to, he was upside down. He crawled out of the car and stayed down on the ground; it was a terrifying moment for him. Everyone from the production, the cast, and the paramedics rushed to where he was; viewers could hear him groaning in pain as he said that he couldn’t breathe and that his back was hurting from the neck down to his butt.

Big Chief, the racemaster, was quite emotional upon seeing his friend on the ground and then loaded into the ambulance, saying, ‘No matter how many times you go through this, it never prepares you for it.’ Jeff was airlifted to a hospital in Tulsa; he recalled waking up in a hospital and was touched when he saw Ryan Martin by his bedside, who said that James “Doc” Love was there too but only one person at a time was allowed inside the room. He said that the 405 guys were like one big family. Even if they competed against each other, they all came together at times like this. Everyone had been sending him messages, expressing their concerns and support for him, and he greatly appreciated it.

He explained that he stayed at the hospital for a few days, mainly because the HANS device or head restraint he was wearing during the crash resulted in bruises on his neck and around his shoulders; it was so bad that he was unable to move his neck for a time.

First time seeing the wrecked Chevy

Jeff and his wife made their way to the garage to check on the car. The first thing that came to his mind upon seeing the shape that the car was in was that it did its job and saved his life. He knew how lucky he was to walk away from the accident with only ‘bumps and bruises.’

Still, he and his wife shed tears as they were heartbroken to see the extent of the damage, and he knew in his heart that he couldn’t fix it this time. They remembered all the blood, sweat, and tears that they poured into building this iconic car, had won a lot of races and a large chunk of money with this one. Jeff said that he banged up this car before but nothing like this. He and his son racked their brains to somehow rebuild it, but had to accept that its time on the street was definitely over. That said, he reminded himself that the car was just a tool that he used to do his job, and as such, it could be replaced.

A GoFundMe page for his race car

Jeff received messages from some people offering to set up a GoFundMe page for him. However, he felt that this crowdfunding platform was for someone sick whose family needed financial assistance with the medical bills or something similar. As much as he appreciated those making an effort to help or contribute, he was adamant about not using GoFundMe for his race car; he said it was something that he would never do. They had enough sponsors, and he and his son, Jeffrey Jr., worked hard for this. If ever they couldn’t make things happen on their own, then they wouldn’t do this.

Jeff’s return to racing

It had only been a few days since he was released from the hospital, and he was back on the street. The guys weren’t really that surprised to see him, but had to ask him why he was back so early. Jeff said, ‘I’ll be honest with it. I thought to myself I either go back down this road right away or I probably won’t ever do it again.’ His passion for racing was that deep.

With his ‘57 destroyed, Jeff brought his No Prep King car on a non-NPK race, as he said that his GTO might be lighter than most street cars, but it wasn’t illegal to put it on the street. Big Chief said that getting back so soon was risky. As a fellow racer, he was excited to see Jeff back, but as a friend he was worried. Jeff’s first race was with David “Daddy Dave” Comstock, and although he lost that night by a car and a half, he was quite relieved to try to put the crash behind him. He said that he had been racing for about 25 years, and this was a bittersweet loss for him.

Jeff went on to race for “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings” and “Street Outlaws: America’s List.” He also joined the guys in the Street Outlaws vs Australia for a No Prep King race at four tracks in 2023.

Rebuilding a ‘57 Chevy

Since Jeff wasn’t quitting the street, he had to build a race car for that, and it was another ‘57 Chevy. He said that it had always been his dream car since he was 12 and nothing was going to change that. They acquired an original but pretty rusted ‘57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop, and made use of some of the salvageable parts from the one that he’d totaled. They filmed how they rebuilt his new race car, and the video clips were uploaded onto his YouTube Channel called Lutz Race Cars. However, since he was busy filming for the Street Outlaws franchise, he didn’t have time to rebuild it on his own or with his son, and so they collaborated with a team he trusted most with it. The new one would be yellow. He didn’t exactly know why he preferred that color, but he just knew that his first car was yellow and his last one would be that color as well.

Expanding Lutz Race Cars

About four years ago, Jeff bought an eight-acre plot of land beside their own that would become the new home of their shop, Lutz Race Cars, because they outgrew the old one and just planned to use it as storage. Jeff said that he bought the old property about two decades ago, and it had never flooded, but after more houses were built in the area, the shop would be submerged in water from time to time and it was such as hassle. With the new property, they put truckloads of dirt to raise the ground so flooding wouldn’t be an issue anymore. It was big enough that he could drive a rig all the way in and out. At least two buildings would be constructed: one would be for the rig as well as for their personal cars, and another one for the workshop.

Jeff has a shop in Oklahoma, and it has a living room and a bedroom. He stays there when filming “Street Outlaws” while his wife and son live in Pennsylvania to keep their shop running. At times, they traveled with him to attend events. Jeff said, ‘It means the world to me to build these cars with my son, Jeffrey…In fact, if he and my wife, Christine, weren’t doing all of this with me, I wouldn’t do it. It’s definitely a family deal.’

The crash was very traumatic for him, and was something he never wanted to experience again. Getting back to the racing scene after that was a bit scary, because nobody was slowing down on the street. Whatever car he hit the street with, he had to go fast, and he would keep doing it. Jeff said, ‘I’m living a dream. Jeffrey’s living a dream. We get to do what we love to do – racing for a living every weekend.’

‘Mystery 101’ is a popular American/Canadian crime film series, created by Robin Bernheim and Lee Goldberg. The series aired on the Hallmark network in the United States, and on the W Network in Canada, until its cancellation in April 2023.

The series played off in the fictional town of Garrison, suggested to be located in Washington State, and followed Professor Amy Winslow, a college literature teacher specialising in crime fiction, who served as a consultant for big city detective Travis Burke. Quite often, Winslow would insert herself into Burke’s cases, and as the films continue, viewers even get to experience a little romance between the two leading characters.

Other characters include Winslow’s father Graham, a best-selling crime writer and widower, Winslow’s teaching assistant, and a young, female rookie police officer who also happens to be the police commissioner’s daughter. While not a very famous or expansive cast, the show nonetheless earned its stars some renown among ‘Mystery 101’s viewers.

The show’s dramatisation of the investigations and conclusions undertaken by Winslow earned it a popular reception among a vast community of crime fiction fanatics. While the films were quite popular, the most noteworthy cast member would naturally be Jill Wagner, who played the leading role of Professor Amy Winslow. Having grabbed the interest of viewers, Jill gained a substantial following.

Sadly, in 2022, Wagner announced her scepticism about the film series’ continuation, stating that the producers do not want to include her in the discussion about Mystery 101’s status, thus raising concerns, confirmed a year later when the producers announced the official cancellation.

Now, with Jill no longer appearing on camera, her followers and fans have been wondering what she is up to nowadays, and if they might one day see her return to television screens. What To Expect?

The Girl From ‘Wipeout’

Born on 13 January 1979, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as Jill Suzanne Wagner, the former star of ‘Mystery 101’ was raised predominantly by her father, David Wagner, and her paternal grandmother. David served as a Marine in the US Armed Forces, living in Wallburg, North Carolina, where he raised his daughter and only child, Jill.

Unfortunately, very little is known about Jill’s early life, except that she attended Ledford Senior High School before later graduating from North Carolina State University with a degree in business management. While attending her standard education, Jill expressed an interest in modelling and acting during her teenage years, and began training at the Barbizon Modelling and Acting School located in Raleigh.

Shortly after graduation, Jill moved to California hoping to start her career in the entertainment industry, quickly landing her first role in 2003, as part of the ‘Punk’d’ MTV series, in which she performed several sketches. Her appearances earned the notice of both Maxim and FHM magazines, which included Jill on their lists of hottest female celebrities.

Following this, Jill would continue to slowly embark on her acting career, earning small roles and a few co-lead positions. Among her first, more noteworthy credits, Jill starred as Krista Starr in ‘Blade: The Series’. She also made guest appearances in the series ‘Bones’ and ‘Quintuplets’.

In 2005, Wagner was cast in her first major role in the production of ‘Junebug’, and in 2008 she had a role in the horror film Splinter’.

While Jill eventually earned her fame as an actress, most people would easily recognise her from her most iconic achievement as the on-field commentator for ABC’s very successful game show, ‘Wipeout’. In March 2008, Jill made her debut as a television personality and host on the set of ‘Wipeout’, earning vast popularity among viewers. Then in 2011, Jill temporarily left the ‘Wipeout’ series, much to the viewers’ disappointment, saying she intended to focus on her acting career, but in August 2012, Jill returned to ‘Wipeout’ as its on-field host, and stayed with the game show until the show’s disappointing cancellation.

Following her brief departure from ‘Wipeout’, Wagner appeared in the teen drama series, ‘Teen Wolf’, as well as making a guest appearance in Rhett and Link’s YouTube ‘The Mythical Show’.

In 2015, Jill hosted the series ‘Handcrafted America’, before moving on to star in numerous productions for the Hallmark network, which include several television films such as “Christmas Cookies” and “Autumn Dream”. Jill stayed on with ‘Handcrafted America’ until 2017, around which time she married, and her acting schedule took up most of her time.

In 2018, Wagner starred in the Canadian film ‘Braven’, and in 2019, assumed the role she’s now most famous for, Professor Amy Winslow. Aside from playing the leading role in the ‘Mystery 101’ film series, Jill also had several roles in television movies between 2015 to 2021. Among these many titles, a few honorary mentions include ‘Hearts of Winter’, ‘The Angel Tree’, and several Christmas films.

For Love and Tomorrow

In 2017, while still hard at work building her acting career, Jill’s personal life took a focal interest as her romantic life achieved wonderful hallmarks. Unfortunately, few details are readily available concerning her romance with former Canadian hockey star David Lemanowicz, but it’s commonly known among her social media followers that the pair met in 2016.

According to the news Jill shared with her social feed, she and David announced their engagement during the early months of 2016, and the couple officially tied the knot a year later. Again, the details of their wedding were kept private, and not much is known to the public about the couple’s intimate affairs, other than what they share on their respective social media platforms.

Then, in a surprising Instagram post, in which Jill exalted and lovingly showered her husband, David, with praise for being an amazing person, the rock on which she anchored her life, and father, Wagner announced the birth of her second child. In the lengthy post of August 2021, Jill revealed that her younger daughter by the name of Daisy Roberta, would soon meet her older sister, but mentioned she and the little one suffered a few scary complications.

Jill stated that the pregnancy was unplanned, but the couple nonetheless welcome the new blessing in their life, adding that Wagner underwent military training for her latest role in ‘Special Ops: Lioness’, and that expecting Daisy came as a shocking surprise. Unfortunately, Jill did not go into the details of the complications she and Daisy suffered, but from what fans can tell, everything turned out alright, for both mother and daughter.

Most unfortunately, Jill hasn’t shared her plans for the future with either gossip publications or her followers, but it’s safe to say that the American actress plans on continuing the joyful journey of parenthood. As often expressed by Wagner on her social pages, her family is the most important focus in her life.

However, it’s also known that Jill seems keen on progressing her acting career, as she starred in several Great American Family films spanning from early 2020 through to 2022. Jill is also starring in another major film production, though the film’s release is yet to be announced. The film in question, ‘SpecialOps: Lioness’, apparently stars Jill in a military role. On paper, Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet make the perfect couple. The reality TV stars both work at the Oppenheim Group, a luxury real estate brokerage firm with offices in West Hollywood and Newport Beach. Netflix viewers will be more than familiar with Oppenheim, as it’s the focus of Adam DiVello’s “Selling Sunset”, a reality series with six seasons to date, that documents the estate agents’ personal and professional lives.

As was to be expected, season six brought plenty of drama and two beautiful newcomers: Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young. Casual fans of the show have been wondering if Mary and Romain, who began dating in summer 2017 and became husband and wife in March 2018, are still together. We can confirm that the lovebirds are still doing well after almost six years; today, we’ll be taking a look at their relationship timeline and important milestones.

It’s unclear how the attractive couple first got to know each other, but we do know that they began dating just a few days after Romain moved to Los Angeles. Romain, a suave Frenchman with a private school education and arts degree, initially moved to the USA to pursue his modelling career. With his chiseled jawline and dark brown eyes, Romain soon began modeling for Tommy Hackett and other big brands almost as soon as he touched down in the US, and was signed to the prestigious Wilhelmina agencies in New York and Los Angeles.

Mary uploaded her first photo with Romain during her birthday celebrations in 2017. When the couple began dating, she was still living with her former friend Christine Quinn. However, when Romain practically moved in with them due to how much time he was spending there, they realized that they needed to get their own place for some much-needed privacy, and intimacy.

A few months into the relationship, Mary and Romain legally married in a frugal courthouse ceremony which they kept secret while planning the extravagant nuptials that would take place over a year and a half later. In February 2019, Mary met Romain’s family for the first time, which was perhaps one of the last moments the couple got to enjoy having a sense of anonymity in their relationship.

Everything changed with the premiere of “Selling Sunset” in March 2019, and it took the estate agents a while to get used to the newfound media attention and public opinion. Mary and Romain’s cast mates also discussed her moissanite engagement ring at much length – so much so, in fact, that Romain replaced the moissanite with a real diamond, as he always intended to do so. This led to some speculation that Romain was having money problems, and couldn’t really keep up with appearances.

In October 2019, Mary and Romain’s opulent wedding ceremony was covered by People magazine. This time, the nuptials took place in a lavish Los Angeles estate that belonged to one of Mary’s clients. However, when viewers of “Selling Sunset” discovered that they had already married a year and a half prior, they accused the good-looking pair and the show’s production team of lying to the public, to which Mary said in an interview: “It’s not that big of a deal… People sign a certificate all the time before they do their actual wedding.”

Mary and Romain made it clear that they weren’t trying for children just yet, as they had more important things on their plate, such as upgrading their living situation. In January 2021, the couple moved into a new place with their fur babies Nico and Zelda, and a few months later, Mary and her ex Jason Oppenheim – with whom she shares custody of the dogs – threw a huge party for Nico’s birthday which was slightly soured by the presence of Mary’s former best friend Christine.

An agitated Mary told Jason that he shouldn’t have invited Christine, as they fell out when the latter began ignoring her while traveling with her fiancé at the time. Although the pair patched things up, Mary was furious to find out that Christine had become engaged without even telling her. Despite the women talking things through at Christine’s bridal gown fitting, the relationship between them is rockier than ever, and many viewers were shocked that Jason would invite her to Nico’s party without consulting Mary first. Many found the birthday party absurd anyway, similarly Mary’s reaction.

Mary and Jason were spotted together at many high-profile events in 2022, such as Coachella and the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Color-co-ordinating on the red carpet, Mary and Jason looked better than ever, with the stylish blonde donning a black top and sequined skirt and beaming from ear to ear in the presence of her debonair husband.

In a December 2022 interview, the husband-and-wife team opened up about their fertility journey. Mary, who was born in July 1980, shared that the first round of embryo freezing hadn’t worked out, and that they’d started a second one. Mary – who had her first son at sixteen and raised him as a single mother – was INITIALLY diffident about the idea of having another child. However, she changed her mind thanks to Romain’s eagerness and their seemingly unshakeable bond.

“He [Romain] is going to be the most amazing dad, because I had some reservations going into it, because I did it on my own, but he’s going to be amazing,” Mary confirmed. “He’s so loving and responsible and thoughtful, so he’s going to be great with a kid.” As Mary’s son and Romain are so close in age, Romain doesn’t try to act as a father figure, but they’re believed to be on good terms.

Season six of “Selling Sunset” premiered on Netflix in May 2023 and was an instant success. In August 2022, it was announced that Christine would officially be leaving the show, as she was moving on from the Oppenheim Group and starting her own firm with her husband. Mary, who has been part of the Oppenheim Group since 2014, certainly didn’t miss the blonde drama queen, and considered Christine’s departure as a chance for the rest of the cast to start over without any drama.

“1000-Lb Sisters” is an American reality television series that airs on the TLC network, documenting in detail the lives of Amy Slaton-Halterman and her sister, Tammy Slaton. Both sisters previously appeared on “My 600-Lb Life”, and due to their popularity among audiences, the Slaton sisters earned their own series.

Introducing Nurse Tisa, who generated a rather questionable first impression, as viewers believed she might not be up for the task of taking care of and dealing with the ever-demanding Tammy.

Initially, Chris always took a voice-of-reason position when it came to Tammy, assuming a strict role while attempting to nurse Tammy to better health. This earned Chris the top spot as the fan favourite, though disappointed viewers when he agreed to pick up Tammy from rehab before she finished her program; that was also until Nurse Tisa came onto the show.

Following Tisa’s shaky introduction, it actually seemed as if she would get along with Tammy, as the pair began bonding in front of the cameras, with viewers even being hopeful that they might shape a friendship. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for Nurse Tisa and the famously stubborn Tammy to bump heads.

Following a trip to the pool, Nurse Tisa struggled to push Tammy in her wheelchair, eventually insisting that the reality star walks to the car.
