Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

Frida grew up in Mexico and was exposed to a bit of the spotlight due to her mother being an acclaimed singer, but also lived a luxurious lifestyle brought about by the wealth of her parents. However, she lived mostly away from the spotlight during her youth, and was free to pursue her interests. After matriculating from high school, she enrolled at Miami International University of Art & Design where she took up a degree in Fashion Merchandising.

Around this time, she had become very interested in fitness, and also aspired for a career in modeling.

Shortly after graduation, she began pursuing various modeling opportunities leading to one of her biggest gigs with “Playboy” – she was named Miss February 2015 in one of the world’s most well-known brands. “Playboy” is a men’s lifestyle magazine that rose to fame for its feature of various nude or semi-nude models known as Playmates – Frida did a semi-nude photoshoot for the magazine.

Online Career

Sofia was gaining a lot of attention, not only for her association with her mother but also through her own achievements. Wanting to expand her reach, she began creating various social media profiles, initially to help promote her passion for fitness with the hope of helping other women also employ a similar lifestyle.

It wasn’t long before her account would reach over a million followers on Instagram alone.

Aside from her online career, she has also released music, with her first single “Andale” released in 2019. She continues to work on her online accounts, separating her modeling account from her health and fitness account, which has over 200,000 followers.

She also established a website through which she sells her health products, beauty products, personalized fitness plans, and music. While she doesn’t teach regularly anymore, she is still a certified personal trainer, and has taken courses in nutrition.

Instead of pursuing acting as well, she leaned more towards a career in music and showcased a prowess in her vocal ability that she conditioned throughout her life.

In the mid-1980s, she began professional singing, which led to the release of her first song in 1988 called “Bye Mama”, dedicated to her mother and which became a hit, establishing her as an upcoming rock star within Mexico. Her career transitioned well into the 1990s when she released some of her biggest albums, including “Flor de Piel”, and “Eternamente Bella”, certified gold and platinum respectively, and the success of which led her to sign a contract with the label Sony BMG located in Ariola.

Slowly, her music would reach other parts of the world, appealing particularly to Spanish speaking audiences. She was later nominated for both Latin Grammy and Grammy awards.
