Eminem was bullied at school and his head was once injured, but it was impossible to sue his school as a Michigan judge ruled that the schools were immune to lawsuits. He attended Lincoln High School – repeating the ninth grade three times – and then in 1989 dropped out to focus on his music career.

He launched his career with the rap group New Jacks – their debut extended play (EP) came out in 1995, but the following year saw him form the band The Dirty Dozen, and its first album “Devil’s Night” came out six years later in 2001.

Eminem was noticed by a talent scout in 1995, and got him to sign a contract with F.B.T. productions, while his debut album “Infinite” came out on 12 November 1996 – it wasn’t successful and to financially support himself, Eminem worked at Gilbert’s Lodge, mostly just washing dishes.

He gained some recognition after he created his alter ego – Slim Shady – and in 1997 Eminem’s first EP came out entitled “Slim Shady EP”, but it was only after winning second place at the 1997 Rap Olympics that he was noticed by Dr. Dre, and started making music with him. The movie follows a young rapper trying to succeed in the rap business, and was a hit, winning 15 awards including an Oscar for Best Music, Original Song (for Eminem, Jeff Bass and Luis Resto) while it was nominated for 21 others.

Eminem met Kimberly Anne ‘Kim’ Scott while attending high school, and they were married twice. Kim gave birth to their daughter Hallie on 25 December 1995, and they married four years later, but then divorced in 2001 – in January 2006, the two re-married, but divorced again by the end of the year. Eminem has custody over Kim’s daughter Whitney, from one of her previous relationships, and over Alaina who is the daughter of his sister-in-law – he also once had legal custody over Nathan.

Eminem is addicted to several drugs such as Valium and Vicodin – he overdosed on methadone in December 2007 and had to be hospitalized, but regardless still remains one of the most popular artists in the rap music industry.
