Why is Whitney Way Thore’s love life so chaotic?

Published

on

Just like most aspects of her life, Whitney Way Thore’s romantic escapades are nothing short of complicated, to say the least. In fact, it’s often said by her staunchest supporters that she has pretty much everything going in the right direction, but that finding true love remains her greatest obstacle to a fulfilled existence. For some reason, she simply hasn’t been able to attain happiness and stability with any partner so far.

The reason for why that’s the case is a matter of great nuance, being a combination of myriad that combine to create the unique conditions for Whitney’s seemingly perpetual dissatisfaction with dating. To understand what’s actually amiss, it’s necessary to take a trip back in time, and grasp the full breadth of Whitney’s circumstances.

Becoming Whitney

Thore started out like most other young girls, with a great emphasis on physical activity and the dramatic arts. She was in great shape up until her teenage years, thanks to frequent dance classes, which she started attending at the age of three. Whitney was highly proficient at many different forms of dancing, including jazz, tap, ballet and others.

Her impressive dancing resume helped with qualifying for and entering numerous national dance competitions, and she was on the way to becoming a proper star. Her father Glenn and mother Barbara – ‘Babs’ – were there every step of the way, helping along their daughter’s future that seemed brighter by the day. However, the joy was cut short by ominous and unexpected news when Thore was in the middle of her teenage years.

A life-altering ailment

She was suddenly diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is a very dangerous health condition that affects one in ten women. Those suffering from it have a tendency to develop numerous small cysts on their ovaries, and that can cause uncountable issues both short and long-term.

PCOS is a complex condition that isn’t fully understood even today, at the peak of modern medicine. It’s believed to be caused by various genetic factors, although the environment may also play a role. Unlike most such mysterious conditions, it hasn’t yet been determined even what those environmental factors might be.

Insulin resistance, inner organ inflammations and hormone imbalance have also been linked to the appearance of PCOS, but those will only serve to trigger already present PCOS-bearing genes. Unfortunately, since it rarely manifests even in those who are genetically predisposed, most women just pass it down to their offspring without knowing that they might become affected.

Thore’s mother doesn’t seem to have ever suffered from PCOS, but fans have theorized that she must feel guilty for not knowing how her daughter would suffer later on. The issue is exacerbated by the fact that there’s no cure for PCOS, but its symptoms can fortunately be treated, to the point of the sufferer being able to live as if they didn’t have the condition in the first place.

Most people who watch “My Big Fat Fabulous Life” and see Whitney moving around like a whirlwind, wouldn’t even think that anything’s wrong with her health, which is a testament to her doctors. The show’s producers also make sure to be extra wary of any potential endangerment of the star’s well-being.

The good within the bad

Although most women who get diagnosed with PCOS tend to take a step back and lose most of their career drive, this had the opposite effect on Whitney. She became more determined than ever before to achieve everything she set out to do, keeping up with her dance lessons throughout the initial ordeal.

This eventually paid off in 2014, when Thore was featured in a YouTube video actually made for a radio show by 107.5 KZL, where she was employed at the time. It showed off her years upon years of dancing practice, made all the more jaw-dropping by how well she moved in spite of her size. The video quickly went viral, garnering her world-wide attention.

It was a year later that TLC had finally begun to air episodes of Whitney’s own show – “My Big Fat Fabulous Life.” The excess weight brought on by PCOS was eventually turned into her strength, as the entire idea of the series was that Thore doesn’t feel bad about her unconventional appearance, that her life is just as fabulous as if she looked what many would describe as perfect.

The looming issues

What keeps Whitney on her toes more than anything else, and definitely causes stress in both her professional and love life, is the prospect of PCOS acting up and its symptoms worsening. There are many troubles that its chronic sufferers have to deal with, and a lot of them influence the physical appearance negatively – something that greatly bothers her, for obvious reasons.

First of all, the condition causes greater-than-normal female hormone imbalance, which leads to irregular and painful periods, excessive facial hair growth, and acne. Most importantly, PCOS leads to severe weight gain, which is how Thore got to the size as she appears today and is televised in. She often finds herself having to follow rather strict diets so as to avoid numerous health issues.

She also has to deal with the possibility of never being able to conceive a child, as PCOS alters the levels of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which is produced in the hypothalamus and is responsible for creating luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Its products stimulate the ovaries to produce estrogen and progesterone, while in men it signals the testes to produce testosterone.

GnRH is produced in excess in Whitney’s case, causing the ovaries to create excess testosterone, which in turn stimulates the appearance of masculine features, such as facial hair. Her ovulation cycle is also rendered almost non-functional, and doctors have to take great care of her reproductive system through frequent check-ups.

The hormonal imbalance also has a massive influence on Whitney’s feelings, causing her to be more vulnerable, trusting, but ultimately explosive. Fans have speculated that she may not have entered at least some of the publicly known relationships, had she only been feeling a little less, and thinking somewhat more.

The long wrong train

Since Whitney far from resembles a fashion strip supermodel, and her weight is approximately 300lbs, almost 140kgs at the moment, it’s not really surprising that she has a hard time navigating romantic endeavors. There’s admittedly someone for everyone out there, but it’s been particularly tough for Thore to find this special man.

Fans have many theories as to why her former partners entered a relationship her, with the more cynical ones suggesting that the only real benefit of dating Whitney is her status as a reality TV star. It is coincidingly also true that pretty much every single one of her exes had the goal of making a lot of money.

Lennie Alehat

Whitney’s dating history goes back to high school, at which point she had an online boyfriend. This didn’t work out, however, as the relationship turned sour upon Thore realizing that the man was her cousin. Her first publicly known boyfriend is Lennie Alehat, whom she dated in the second season of the show in 2015.

They dated for approximately a year and a half, but then had to end the relationship due to various differences. More specifically, it was 2016 and the fourth season of the series when Whitney became very suspicious of Lennie’s private matters, supposing that he may have cheated on her.

This scandal was never clarified, however, and so Lennie managed to save face quite well, as nobody has a negative thing to say about him today. Fans have wondered whether Thore simply over-reacted too a perhaps delusional claim that she never bothered to thoroughly check. What definitely influenced the situation were Whitney’s aforementioned health issues, with raging hormones causing all kinds of emotional reactions, as per usual.

Whitney left Lennie on camera, in the middle of an episode. He definitely didn’t expect a decision so strong and yet so sudden, but still managed to prevent himself becoming overly emotional and blowing his top. The break-up left the two on amicable terms, which was evidenced many years down the line. In mid-2023, the two are good friends and they chat from time to time.

Avi Lang

It looks like Whitney wasted no time finding someone to fill the hole Lennie left behind, as she found herself dating another man mere months later. She secretly began seeing a certain Jewish man named Avi Lang, but the need to keep a secret wasn’t Whitney’s.

It was Avi, in fact, who asked her to keep the whole relationship strictly hush-hush. Whitney thought that Lang was perhaps ashamed of her, and started thinking the worst. Again, it didn’t help that her PCOS was causing excess hormones to run rampant.

Instead of confirming her fears, Avi told her that he’s actually very self-conscious about his nose, having sent her a detailed childhood story in direct messages. He was apparently the only Jewish child in his class in the UK, and the others didn’t appreciate his unconventional nose shape, having made fun of him on many occasions.

Stuck in middle school with these supposed bullies until the ripe age of 18, Avi purports that he developed massive insecurities by the time everything was already over, and that he can’t even bear to look at his nose or have others see it. Hence, Whitney posting selfies with him on social media would greatly inconvenience him.

She agreed to the request and proceeded to secretly date Lang for another seven months, during which time the fans had barely a shred of information about what was going on. Whitney went as far as to try a wedding dress on for Avi, but things came crashing down just as she reached peak fulfilment.

A certain Nada Louis reached out to Whitney in March 2016, explaining that she was actually dating Avi, who was double-timing her. She sent pictures as evidence, and Thore’s heart broke yet again. It was later revealed that Lang had swindled another 20 women of similar shapes and sizes, evidently using their lack of confidence for his twisted benefit.

The women all came together and formed a support group for everyone wronged by Avi, and at least he never achieved any positive attention from appearing in the show, since he had to avoid that as well.

Chase Severino

Whitney’s definitely most talked-about ex is Chase Severino, whom she met through her fitness buddy and professional trainer Ryan Andreas. On a side note, Whitney and Ryan swiped right on each other on a dating app, but decided after meeting only once that it’d be better if they remained friends. They’ve had a loving and fulfilling friendship since making that decision, and there have been no issues with Ryan whatsoever.

Chase was introduced to Whitney’s life and the show as well in 2019, its sixth season. They quickly took a liking to one another and to hit it off, with Thore especially being overjoyed with Severino’s muscular appearance.

Naturally, many fans wondered whether something was going on behind what they could see, as Chase seemed to be far out of Whitney’s league. Most suspected ulterior motives and foul play, but they could do nothing except wait to be proved right later on.

Chase proposed to Whitney in October 2019, and they became engaged. However, it was good for the TV star that they never went through with that engagement, as her hubby-to-be turned out to be cheating, big time. Their relationship promptly ended in early June 2020.

Not only was he sleeping with multiple women throughout their relationship, Chase also had another full-time girlfriend, whom he ended up impregnating. It was then too late to remain in the lie, and he came clean to Whitney in front of the cameras. She was obviously disgusted, and once again heartbroken and disappointed.

The French Man

Thore’s most recent relationship is with a certain French man, whose identity she tried her best to keep hidden. However, the audience was one step ahead of the production team, and their tiny slip-up gave the hungry fans more than enough information as to who the new beau might be.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CTQyyg9siYt/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igshid=MmJiY2I4NDBkZg==

Several viewers of a regular episode caught in a video call that the man’s name was Nil, and they got around to working with the rest of the community to figure out his identity. The mob eventually settled on a certain French rapper named Nail Rayner.

While everyone is aching to know more, Whitney has remained relatively tight-lipped about her new partner, stating only that the two are in an open relationship due to not being able to see each other very often. Still, in spite of the fact that they live in different countries, the audience couldn’t help but wonder why Whitney can’t find more time for him.

As far as everyone can tell, Whitney’s love life is still as mysterious and as dramatic as ever, with even her latest boyfriend not providing a semblance of what is normally the wealth of having a partner. Perhaps until she changes the way she goes about this business, Thore is possibly on the way towards another trainwreck.

Why Did John Hennessey Want to Punch a “Top Gear” Producer? What happened?

Published

on

John Hennessey, a name already etched in the annals of the automotive industry, found himself in the eye of a media storm following a contentious encounter with a producer from the popular UK television series “Top Gear.” This incident, which took place in 2014, unfolded during the production of the episode entitled “Rescuing Richard From Lone Wolf Mountain” in the rugged terrains of Canada.

The episode featured Jeremy Clarkson, a legendary and controversial figure in the world of automotive television, behind the wheel of a Hennessey VelociRaptor. The vehicle is essentially a Ford Raptor that had been given a significant performance boost by Hennessey’s own company, Hennessey Performance.

As the creator of the machine in question, Hennessey was naturally involved in the filming process. However, as is the case with numerous “Top Gear” episodes to date, the production was not without its challenges and subsequent high tensions.

Hennessey was instructed from the outset to maintain a distance from the hosts, and was initially informed that he and his team weren’t permitted to ascend the mountain during the filming. This directive created a palpable tension between Hennessey and the producers, and he even contemplated withdrawing his support if any technical issues arose throughout the shoot.

Despite the initial friction, the producers eventually relented and allowed Hennessey and his team to participate more actively in the filming process. The episode was successfully shot without any major hitches, leading fans to believe that, at least this time, everything was fine on the set of “Top Gear.”

However, it was in the weeks following the shoot that a notorious altercation between Jeremy Clarkson and the producer, Oisin Tymon, took place. This incident was by far one of the most defining moments of “Top Gear,” as it permanently changed the series by taking all three of its key personalities out of the equation.

A new, slower “Top Gear”

The incident, often referred to as ‘steakgate,’ saw Clarkson physically assault Oisin Tymon, over being unable to order sirloin steak at a hotel in North Yorkshire, and led to Tymon needing hospital treatment. The BBC, which aired “Top Gear,” conducted an internal investigation and subsequently decided not to renew Clarkson’s contract, effectively ending his tenure on the show.

The repercussions of this incident were far-reaching, as Jeremy wasn’t only the signature celebrity of the series, but also its creator, alongside Andy William. His departure from the show led to its co-presenters, Richard Hammond and James May, also going out the door.

The trio had been the face of Top Gear for over a decade, and their departure marked the end of a glorious era, during which millions upon millions of car enthusiasts all around the world got hooked on the content made unique through the exhilarating friendship and expertise of Clarkson, Hammond and May.

The show eventually continued with new presenters, but it understandably struggled to replicate the success it had enjoyed under the grand three. Numerous fans felt that there was no longer a point in watching “Top Gear,” since the series virtually didn’t exist without its signature faces.

A faster Clarkson

In spite of what some believed, the incident did not mark the end of Clarkson’s career in television, but in fact provided the means for a new beginning. Amazon, seeing an opportunity, signed Clarkson, Hammond and May for a new motoring show, “The Grand Tour.” The series premiered in November 2016, following a similar format to “Top Gear” but with a larger budget and fewer restrictions. It immediately proved to be yet another one of Jeff Bezos’ commercial successes, attracting millions of viewers worldwide, and receiving positive reviews from critics.

That said, the incident had a significant impact on Clarkson’s public image. Known for his controversial and often divisive opinions, Jeremy was now also associated with physical violence. Despite the negative PR, his popularity did not seem to wane significantly, as many fans followed him from one series to the other, and he continued to be a prominent figure in the world of motoring television.

BBC in the crosshairs of alt-left liberals

The incident also sparked a discussion about workplace behavior, and the treatment of staff in the television industry. The BBC was criticized for its handling of the situation, with some arguing that Clarkson should have been dismissed immediately after the altercation. However, others praised the corporation for conducting a thorough investigation, and ultimately holding Clarkson accountable for his actions.

The vast majority, however, simply wanted to keep watching the “Top Gear” they knew and loved, but BBC had to please the Twitter and Instagram social justice warriors, ultimately opting for what equates to the rating suicide of the series. In a manner of speaking, BBC shot themselves in the foot, and surrendered “Top Gear” to Jeff Bezos.

The reason for the outrage was the fact that Oisin ended up actually requiring medical intervention, as his lip had been cut open by Clarkson’s fists. On top of that, Jeremy called the producer a ‘lazy, Irish c**t,’ which, in spite of not being such, could’ve easily been interpreted as a disparaging remark on the grounds of racial differences, and it immediately was.

Suddenly, in the depths of liberal interwebs, Jeremy Clarkson was a violent, physically abusing racist who, using his position as the creator, and Caucasian origins, gave himself the right to treat someone without any semblance of humanity. This was far from the truth, but the pressure on BBC was too high.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CtpaML4sZgr/

Smacked into court

To top everything off, Tymon decided to take legal action against both Clarkson and the BBC, alleging racial discrimination and personal injury. The lawsuit sought damages believed to be in excess of £100,000 ($140,000). The Central London Employment Tribunal oversaw the proceedings, with both Tymon’s lawyers and the BBC in attendance.

It was eventually settled in February 2016, with Clarkson issuing a public apology to Tymon, thereby expressing remorse for the incident and its aftermath, as well as acknowledging that Oisin was not at fault. The settlement was believed to be for more than the initially sought amount, with both Clarkson and the BBC contributing towards it.

In terms of the audience, the incident and its aftermath led to a shift in viewing habits for many fans of motoring television, notably an uncomfortable one. Those who had enjoyed Clarkson, Hammond and May in “Top Gear,” without any extra costs aside from the television bill, now had to subscribe to Amazon Prime to watch “The Grand Tour.” This marked a significant move in the television industry, with a major show moving from a traditional ’free’ broadcaster to a streaming service.

The conclusion

The skirmish between Clarkson and Tymon was the culmination of long working hours, high stress levels, and a disagreement over a very trivial matter. Jeremy Clarkson is not generally known for being a violent physical abuser, and has never had that intense of an incident before or after Oisin. It’s thus unreasonable to conclude that the creator of “Top Gear” had to be fired by the BBC as someone who they couldn’t work with anymore.

Many fans have also pointed out the fact that Oisin should’ve simply acquiesced to Jeremy’s request, since as the main driver of the series that was providing Oisin his livelihood, Clarkson, after a very long day’s work, deserved whatever he may have liked to eat.

Compared to what the creator and co-host has to do on the set every day of the filming, procuring a slab of meat isn’t even worthy of being called a task. Of course, the media is in the dark about Oisin’s activities that day, and it could well be that some force of nature found itself right between him and a sirloin steak.

Regardless, most people agree that the incident could’ve easily been avoided through a number of means, and that its ultimate outcome is probably the worst thing that could’ve happened to both “Top Gear” and the BBC, while Clarkson and his two best friends will always have a place under most people’s roofs.

Hennessey completely agrees with Clarkson

John fully defended Jeremy in a no-holds-barred interview with Joe Rogan on his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience,” divulging several key details that shed crucial light on what truly happened behind the closed doors of BBC production.

Rogan, who is also a passionate vehicle collector, was the perfect host for Hennessey, given his love for hand-crafted sports cars and high-performance trucks. His garage boasts numerous desirable examples, such Gunther Werks’ Porsche 911 and Hennessey’s VelociRaptor 600.

The conversation eventually veered towards their past careers, with both sharing anecdotes and experiences from their respective journeys. Hennessey, who started his career modifying and tuning performance cars, talked about his road to becoming the CEO of a company known for its high-performance vehicles.

Rogan, on the other hand, shared his experiences from his diverse career, which spans stand-up comedy, acting, and hosting television shows, in addition to his successful podcast. It was through this sharing of invaluable information that the two eventually touched on what happened that fateful month.

Why he also wanted to punch Oisin

He explained that the producer in question wasn’t only brash with Clarkson, but that his dismissive and agitating behavior has always been a problem, making it only a matter of time before someone would get completely sick of the treatment. In John’s case, it started during the filming of the aforementioned episode, when Oisin came off rather crude and controlling.

First of all, he made sure to tell John not to spend too much time around the stars of the show, implying that his presence was so insignificant it would endanger the ratings of the episode. He was subsequently told that he’d be unable to follow the crew to the mountain, even though they would be driving a vehicle that he produced.

John was understandably annoyed at this point, and told the producer that he was fine with not going, as long as he wouldn’t be bothered about anything that could possibly go wrong with the vehicle. Realizing the risk of the potential predicament, Oisin finally changed his mind and requested that Hennessey accompany them after all.

While most producers would feel fortunate for being able to co-operate with such significant names in the industry, Tymon showed a blatant disregard for John’s grandiosity and boundless expertise, to the point of being brash enough to treat him like a random, unknown individual who would only be a nuisance on the set.

As a result, John told Rogan that he too would’ve punched Tymon had he been in Clarkson’s situation, according to the negative personal history he had accumulated with the producer by that point. Hennessey was clear in stating that to him, Oisin wasn’t a pleasant person to work with, which can greatly exacerbate the stress of a long day’s work.

However, it’s crucial to underscore that no physical confrontation between Hennessey and the producer ever took place, making the only perceptible infraction on John’s part the fact that he said he would’ve punched Oisin too. His admission only served to further bolster the idea that was already rampant on social media, which is that Clarkson didn’t do anything wrong, and that the producer was to blame for everything.

Being a significant departure from Hennessey’s usual dealings, his willingness to physically harm someone sheds light on the pressures and tensions that can arise during the production of a highly acclaimed TV show, especially one like “Top Gear,” which had approximately 360 million concurrent viewers at the time of the incident.

What happened to Oisin?

It would be an understatement to say that Oisin negatively impacted his career by being having been insufferable towards Clarkson, as his time in the limelight since then has produced worse results than not having done a project at all.

Immediately after the scandal, The Guardian reported that Tymon suffered significant backlash on social media, as millions upon millions of Clarkson’s to-the-grave supporters took to their keyboards to bash both BBC and Tymon, outraged at the idea that their favorite series as they knew it was practically ending.

Oisin may have enjoyed a decent sum from the subsequent court proceedings, but some would argue that no amount of money is enough to cover the anguish and embarrassment that his rudeness on the job eventually caused through the reaction of the masses.

After the fiasco had boiled over, Tymon failed to find a place in the entertainment industry for over four years, after which he made the abysmal decision of supporting a project that was doomed from the get-go. Some have theorized that this was the only title he was able to work on, and so it was actually his only choice.

In 2019 Oisin wrote, directed, and was the executive producer for the 10-episode reality TV series entitled “The Great Travel Hack,” which performed abysmally upon release. Neither of its two seasons managed to garner a significant viewership, and its rating on IMDB is only 3.5 out of 10, with only 36 individuals having rated it by mid-2023.

So, while Clarkson is busy earning millions and still shaping the automotive media world, Oisin seems to be kicking the dead horse that his entertainment industry career has turned into through his own fault….and that is how that story went.

What is Kevin Skinner up to today?

Published

on

From musicians, singers, dancers and magicians, “America’s Got Talent” has been uninterruptedly giving us many magnificent performances and unforgettable stars throughout its almost two decades on air.

One of the performers who we can’t seem to forget after so long is Kevin Skinner, the farm man turned country singer who not only won the competition’s fourth season, but also became an unerasable memory for fans of the show.

While there’s no way to deny Kevin’s talent and the stage presence he showcased back during his “America’s Got Talent” appearances, these days he’s less talked about for his talent, and more for his prolonged and worrisome absence from the entertainment world.

So what is Kevin up to nowadays? Stay here to know it all!

Where Is Kevin Skinner Now?

Unfortunately, not much is known about Kevin Skinner’s current whereabouts. Despite the fame and acclaim he gained upon his “America’s Got Talent” victory in 2009, Kevin stayed active for a while and even released two albums before he strayed away from the public spotlight.

In 2014, it was reported that he had been going through some emotional issues and depression, but no further information was given about his well-being. Several years passed, during which not only did Kevin not perform or release any new music, but his social media stayed inactive as well.

Later in 2020, Kevin’s Facebook was updated with the message ‘Thanks for believing in me when even sometimes this dream seemed impossible’, leaving the rest of the post seemingly incomplete. That was the latest update about Kevin posted to date, unsurprisingly worrying his fans for the lack of news from him or his family.

So where is Kevin now? The answer to that question is unfortunately unknown, but there’s nothing else for us, but to wish that Kevin is alright, even if he’s away from the spotlight.

Personal Issues

Kevin Skinner’s prolonged disappearance from public life is sad news for everyone who fell in love with his voice and personality during his “America’s Got Talent” performances. However, this situation was the result of long-lasting personal problems which ultimately took a toll on him only a couple of years after rising to fame.

The first signs that something wasn’t right with Kevin’s career started in 2012, when he canceled several scheduled shows without much of an explanation. After that, his career entered a prolonged hiatus, and not much about Kevin’s whereabouts was known for a time until he reportedly went missing in early November 2014.

According to RadarOnline, Kevin suffered a fall in unknown circumstances near his home in Graves County, in southwest Kentucky. It was Kevin himself who called his family for help, and they in exchange reported the accident to the Kentucky State Police, but Kevin was nowhere to be found.

Kevin was eventually found after a Golden Alert was emitted by authorities, and afterwards underwent a medical examination. As one friend revealed to RadarOnline at the time, Kevin had been suffering from depression caused by his sudden divorce a couple of years prior, but further details about his family situation or whether he was receiving any medical treatment weren’t revealed at the time.

Participation In The Show

Besides the fact that he’s wildly talented, Kevin Skinner’s likable personality was one of the reasons which instantly gained him the hearts of “America’s Got Talent” audiences.

Since his audition for the show, it was evident that he was different from any of his fellow contestants. Though most people didn’t expect the simple-looking man with the Southern accent to impress anyone with his performance, Kevin achieved the unimaginable by delivering a perfect and emotional rendition of “If Tomorrow Never Comes” by Garth Brooks, immediately gaining standing ovations from the audience and judge David Hasselhoff.

The three ‘yes’ from the judges were soon to come, and Kevin was sent to the Vegas Round, though the lasting impression from his audition gained him an immediate pass to the quarter-finals without performing. His next appearances saw him performing “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan, effectively gaining a pass to the semi-finals with it.

Kevin’s following performances were of Brenda Lee’s “Always On My Mind”, and later “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith, the latter gaining him the approval from audiences to win the competition, a $1 million prize and a headlining show in Las Vegas.

Life After “America’s Got Talent”

Just months after his “America’s Got Talent” win, Kevin Skinner released his first album “Long Ride”, which contained 10 original self-written songs. Although the album was unable to chart in any important music list, Kevin told Roughstock about his happiness at releasing music with which he felt a personal connection: ‘More than half of them songs are from things that happened to me over the years. It’s just music that I feel like a lot of people can relate to’, he said.

Besides the impressive fact of debuting in the music industry, Kevin also enjoyed the good things which an “America’s Got Talent” winner deserves, such as visiting Los Angeles and Las Vegas for the first time, along with opening a show for country music legend George Jones, and many others.

Kevin also performed in important TV shows such as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien”, along with releasing his first and only music video to date, entitled “Like It’s the Last Goodbye”, from his first album. The year 2011 also saw him releasing “Kevin Skinner: Live And Unplugged”, but at that point, his public appearances had already started decreasing.

Recognition

Despite having not much time before fading away from the spotlight, Kevin Skinner is still remembered to this day as one of the most charming contestants to ever set foot on the “America’s Got Talent” stage.

Though at the time of his victory news portals such as Entertainment Weekly claimed he wasn’t a ‘Vegas performer’, and criticized the dismissal of other acts by the public, judge Piers Morgan affirmed that Kevin’s win was a reflection of the audience’s appreciation for common people with talent: ‘They voted for him, because they recognized one of themselves,’ he told Zap2it.

The audiences’ appreciation for Kevin is so massive, that even so many years after his TV victory and subsequent disappearance from the public spotlight, they still actively leave supporting messages on his Facebook page. As well, songs from Kevin’s studio album “Long Ride” such as the leading single “Like It’s the Last Goodbye”, have amassed over 200,000 streams to date.

While it’d surely be great to see him getting back to music sometime in the future, there’s no doubt that Kevin Skinner’s music won’t be forgotten by his fans any time soon.

What happened to Bryce Leatherwood in “American Idol”?

Published

on

Bryce Leatherwood made an even greater mark on the world in early 2022 by breezing through the competition in the renowned singing series “The Voice”. He went on to engrave his name into the music industry by taking home the trophy as the most capable and talented singer of the season, bringing great pride and joy to his community.

Out of his many fans, however, few are aware that he has also participated in another popular singing show, albeit with much less enviable results. Bryce applied to compete in the 18th season of “American Idol” in 2020, but failed to even reach the Hollywood round, which comes right after a passed audition.

While the details of that performance remain blurred, it’s evident by his flawless victory in “The Voice” that he definitely had something to offer the world. Still, it’s possible that the two-year gap between “American Idol” and “The Voice” exists because he took the time to further develop his style, up to the point where no one in their right mind could call it sub-par.

Leatherwood created his band in 2021 as well, called simply Bryce Leatherwood Band. They first started playing at local bars and pubs, building themselves up to all the fame that would come following Bryce’s achievement in “The Voice”. His home town residents even went as far as to petition the mayor to book the band after their popularity exploded.

Regardless the setback in “American Idol”, Bryce’s journey in the public eye was far from over, as he had only just become an established name in the industry. His performances had already won the hearts of millions of viewers and his fanbase continued to grow to enviable levels later on. After stepping out of the limelight of the series, the curiosity surrounding the path Bryce Leatherwood took continued to pique the interest of many.

Who really is Bryce Leatherwood?

Bryce Leatherwood was born on 4 February 2000, in Woodstock, Georgia USA, to Hope and Cliff Leatherwood. His early years were filled with all sorts of musical endeavors, as he grew up singing, and playing the ukulele throughout middle school.

To start with, his parents married on 28 March 1998 so have been together for over 25 years, throughout which they’ve only ever been supportive of their son’s hopes and dreams. Cliff Leatherwood is a successful businessman, having been employed as the vice president of sales and marketing for a metal company for a couple of decades, while Hope looks to be a satisfied housewife.

His passion for the performing arts continued to flourish throughout his attendance at Sequoyah High School, in Canton, in his birth state, where he often played and sang at assisted living facilities. He would perform various renditions on the guitar for residents, consistently honing his skills and gaining valuable experience that would later help him build a career.

In addition to his musical aspirations, Leatherwood also pursued higher education upon matriculating in 2018. He subsequently enrolled in Georgia Southern University, where he unexpectedly studied for a degree in business. Fans have theorized that, for one reason or another, Bryce hadn’t fully committed to music back then, which may have led him astray until he would be bathed in fame throughout “The Voice”.

That said, his college years failed to put a muffler on the strings, as he continued to nurture his love for music by frequently singing and playing in bars and clubs. His performances weren’t limited to the university town of Statesboro, Georgia, where he resided, but extended to various venues that offered him an opportunity to showcase his talent, all up until his graduation in 2022.

Just like the majority of the world’s famous musicians, Bryce had been in contact with his true calling almost since leaving the womb, and these formative years most definitely laid the foundation for his future success. Thanks to the previously invested effort, Leatherwood would go on to almost effortlessly make a name for himself on a national platform. He made a grand entrance into the world of music, shortly after securing his college degree.

An unexpected victor

Bryce Leatherwood’s journey in “The Voice” began in 2022 when he entered the twenty-second season of the series. His blind audition featured a performance of Blake Shelton’s rendition of Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time”. This performance impressed three of the four coaches, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, after which Bryce chose to join Team Blake.

Throughout the series, Bryce delivered several memorable performances – during the Battles, he performed “Red Dirt Road” by Brooks & Dunn against The Dryes, and was saved by Blake. In the Knockouts, he sang “Colder Weather” by Zac Brown Band against Jay Allen & Kate Kalvach. This part of the competition is always crucial for the majority of those who pass, as the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together. After every vocal battle, the coach must choose which of their artists will advance to the next round of competition. Each coach has one steal during this stage, allowing them to add a losing artist from another team to their own.

The knockout stage also endangered Bryce’s stay in the series, being one of its most brutal segments. It sees the artists paired against another teammate, but this time they perform individually while their direct competitors watch and wait, weighing the pros and cons of each candidate separately. The coaches choose the winner of each knockout round, and the unselected artist is available to be stolen by another coach, with each having only one steal permission throughout the stage.

The play-offs follow the knockouts, with the 20 remaining artists performing again as each coach can only advance two of them to the live semi-finals. The stakes are high as there are no steals available at this stage, and the bar for performance is pushed through the roof.

Bryce performed “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” by Travis Tritt in the first part of this stage, unexpectedly ending up in the bottom two from Team Blake. However, he then sang “Let Me Down Easy” by Billy Currington in the wild card instant save segment, which resulted in him being chosen to stay in the show.

Leatherwood upped his game as the series progressed to the live top 13, performing “Amarillo by Morning” by Terry Stafford for the “Songs that Changed My Life” theme, and was ultimately saved by the public’s vote. During the fan week part of the show in the live top 10, he performed “Sand in My Boots” by Morgan Wallen, and secured a place in the finals.

He sang “If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away” by Justin Moore in the live top 8, as well as a duet of “Saving All My Love for You” with Morgan Myles, which was a rather interesting rendition of a song originally by Whitney Houston.

In the live finale, which features only the five finalists of the series, Bryce performed “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” by Travis Tritt for the artistry song, “Don’t Close Your Eyes” by Keith Whitley for the dedication song, and “Hillbilly Bone” with Blake Shelton for his duet with the coach.

These choices resulted in the best possible outcome for the young singer, as he was crowned the winner of the season on 13 December 2022, thus aptly named “The Voice”. While not many expected Leatherwood to take the trophy home, he used the victory to cement his name in the music industry, and obtain a valuable recording contract.

Setting off on his own

Following his unprecedented success in “The Voice”, and regardless of any lack of triumph in “American Idol”, Bryce began to take the world by storm through numerous tours and social media updates, as well as various performance snippets found all over the web. In other words, he began working closely with some of the better-established names in the industry, paving a way for himself at a tempo resembling a veritable local country club star.

Most importantly, Leatherwood was invited to perform at various locations of his coach Blake Shelton’s bar chain, Ole Red. This new employment took him to differing parts of US, including Tishomingo in Oklahoma, Orlando in Florida, and Gatlinburg in Tennessee.

Bryce’s performances at Ole Red were well-received, and he continued to steadily build his fan base from there on out. His soulful voice and charismatic stage presence, which had won him the title on “The Voice”, continued to charm audiences at these venues, especially coupled with the fact that they were listening to someone who won the show.

In addition to his performances at Ole Red, Bryce also made plans to relocate to Nashville, Tennessee, to pursue his music career there full time. Known as the home of country music, this bustling metropolis offered Bryce the opportunity to immerse himself in the music scene, and further increase his grasp on nation-wide and global crowds.

Making his mark

Out of the numerous venues Bryce featured in throughout his employment with Blake, a certain few managed to ring out and solidify his popularity, with various clips found all over social media, mostly TikTok and YouTube.

On 25 February 2023 he performed at the Team Blake Doghouse Party in Tishomingo, which started at 6:30 PM with a VIP dinner, followed by the show at 8:30 PM. Bryce was the main act of the night, taking the Doghouse stage to entertain the audience into the late hours.

Bryce was also part of the Official Blake Shelton Concert Pre-Party at Ole Red in Orlando, Florida on 3 March 2023. The event was held the night before Blake Shelton’s concert, and Bryce was there to get the party going. While his earnings from that particular time remain undisclosed, the cover charge at the entrance was $10.

Last but not least, Bryce performed at a pop-up show at Ole Red in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on 23 March 2023, where the doors opened at 8:00 PM, with the long-anticipated show starting at 9:00 PM as part of the Spring Blake Pop-Up Show series.

Business and pleasure

Bryce seems to be fully immersed in building up an online universe of his own, with a dedicated website that serves as a platform to keep his many fans updated – the most important section entitled “Shows” lists Bryce’s upcoming performances, providing details such as the date, venue, and location of the spectacle. As of early June 2023, he is scheduled to perform at the CMA Fest – Maui Jim Reverb Stage in Nashville on 11 June 2023, and at the Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood, NJ on 16 June 2023. Other notable performances include appearances at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee, on 13 July 2023, and the City of Woodstock Summer Concert Series in his home town Woodstock on 25 August 2023.

The “Videos” section features a collection of Bryce’s performances from “The Voice”, which serves to remind the site goers what the star is truly capable of. These include his renditions of “Hillbilly Bone” with Blake Shelton, George Strait’s “Amarillo by Morning”, Travis Tritt’s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E”, and Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes”, among others.

The “Podcast Appearances” section lists podcasts where Bryce has been a guest, including “Bryce Leatherwood Winner Of NBC’s The Voice” on Arroe Collins and “Bryce Leatherwood Interview | Winning The Voice Season 22” on Rob Herrera.

Finally, he also has Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter accounts, as well as a YouTube channel and a biography website. The channel sits at less than 5,000 subscribers, with only 10 videos available.

The content on the channel is predominantly music-focused, featuring Bryce’s performances and covers of popular country songs, with some of the videos including his renditions of “I Wish Grandpa’s Never Died”, “Hurricane”, and Conway Twitty’s “Goodbye Time”. His cover of “Help Me Hold On” by Travis Tritt has garnered the most views on the channel, standing at 35,000 views.

In addition to full-length videos, the channel also features YouTube Shorts, which are brief clips showcasing snippets of Bryce’s performances. These include his renditions of “Simple Man”, Morgan Wallen’s “Sand in My Boots”, and a performance from his time in “The Voice”.
