Ava and a boy named Oscar were swimming at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia when a riptide occurred and threatened to drown them – her adoptive father Hugh was there and helped lifeguards save them, as well as several other children.
Hugh and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, an Australian actress and film producer, then agreed to adopt Ava and Oscar after Deborra suffered two miscarriages – Hugh and Deborra have been married since 11 April 1996.
Ava enjoys spending her free time with her father, and the two could occasionally be seen jogging together. She is currently attending a local high school at which she is said to be practicing her acting skills, while she is also practicing at a local theatre. It’s believed that Ava won’t be pursuing a college degree after she matriculates, scheduled in 2023.

Hugh Michael Jackman was born in Sydney, New South Wales Australia, on 12 October 1967 – his zodiac sign is Libra, and he holds both British and Australian nationality. He is an actor, film producer and singer, who has won numerous awards for his performances, including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, and a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical. Hugh might be known best for his portrayal of Jean Valjean, one of the lead characters in the historical musical film “Les Miserables” adapted by William Nicholson, Alain Boubilil and five others, directed by Tom Hooper, and which also starred Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. The film follows Jean Valjean living in France in the 19th century, who has been hunted by a policeman for decades because he broke his parole.
The movie was a hit, winning 86 awards including three Oscars, while it was nominated for 175 others.
Hugh was raised alongside his four older siblings by their father Christopher John Jackman who was an accountant, and their mother Grace McNeil who was a housewife – both his parents were born in the UK.
