Gina Bellman was born in Auckland, New Zealand on 10 July 1966, so her zodiac sign is Cancer and she holds New Zealand nationality. She is an actress who gained recognition after starring as Sophie Devereaux in the crime mystery thriller series “Leverage”, which also starred Timothy Hutton and Christian Kane, and which follows several people as they try to steal money from rich criminals. The show ran between 2008 and 2012, and won three awards while it was nominated for 20 others.

Early life and education

Gina was raised as a single child in Auckland by her Jewish parents – her father was of Russian descent and was a small store owner, and her mother who was of Polish descent was working as a nurse at a local hospital. The two were living in England long before Gina was born, and then moved to New Zealand in the late ‘50s. In 1977 when Gina was 11, the family moved back to England, and Gina studied at Rosh Pinah Primary school and then at the Jewish Free School in London.

She became interested in acting while attending high school, as she was a member of the school’s drama club and appeared in most plays performed there. Upon matriculation in 1984, she didn’t enroll at a college but rather decided to pursue her career as an actress.

In 1993, Gina played Sandra in “Horse Opera” and then appeared in “Silent Trigger” in 1996 and David” in 1997. Gina met the Colombian singer and songwriter Lucho Brieva in 2002, started dating within days of being introduced by a mutual friend, and in July 2005 they married at a modest ceremony attended by their closest friends and family. However, Gina and Lucho stayed together for just two years before divorcing in 2007, then in 2009 she gave birth to her daughter Romy, whose father is Zaab Sethna. Zaab and Gina married in 2013.

Zaab is a businessman who obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, and his Master’s degree from Columbia University in the City of New York in 1990.

He then launched his career by joining The Rendon Group, Inc., working as their consultant until September 2000. He became the Director of Communications at Iraqi National Congress in September 2000 before becoming an Adviser to the Government of Iraq in April 2003. From April 2006 to January 2008, Zaab worked as Managing Director at Global Positioning LLC leaving in January 2008 when he became a partner at Northern Gulf Partners, and he has been with them for over 12 years now.

Hobbies and other interests

Gina is not much of a happy person and believes people are all striving to achieve something and when they do, they celebrate for a moment and move on to achieving another thing.

As she has stated: ‘I don’t understand happy people. How can you just be satisfied?’ Her main hobby is travelling and she has been to several US states such as California, Arizona and New York, and has visited many European countries including France, Germany and Croatia among others. She is a lover of animals and has a pet dog, while her favorite ‘animals’ are parrots and turtles. She likes to dance and sing and can dance a variety of styles including contemporary and salsa.

Some of Gina’s favorite actors and actresses are Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway, while some of her favorite movies are “Titanic”, “Catch Me If You Can”, and “One Day” among others.
