After graduating from the University of Mississippi with a degree in history, he got into the woodworking craft professionally, which gave him plenty of room to hone his skills. His work caught the attention of local homeowners, who began commissioning him to create custom pieces for their homes. This passion for woodworking, and the demand for his services, eventually led him to start his own manufacturing company called Scotsman Co.
Ben met Erin Rasberry during his time at the University of Mississippi, who would later become his wife and co-host on “Home Town”. The couple quickly bonded over their shared love of small-town living and historic architecture., and married in November of 2008 after only a short period of dating.
Soon after their marriage, they began renovating their own home in Laurel, and documenting the process on their blog, which attracted a large following. However, the two became instant stars after one of their renovation projects was featured in a wedding.
Their work on their own home led to more renovation projects in Laurel, and in 2016, they were approached by HGTV to create a pilot episode for a show called “Home Town”. The pilot was a success, and the show was picked up for a full season, which aired in 2017.

Update on Ben’s health
Recently, Ban Napier had shoulder surgery after he tore his rotator cuff. He had previously been struggling with shoulder pain for many years, and began treatment in January of 2023.
Following his surgery, Ben has been recovering at home with his family. He says his greatest help is his five-year-old daughter who showers him in love and care. His doctor told him that he has to do therapy for several weeks, however, Ben claims that he has a “secret weapon” for getting better. So, what was the secret weapon? He jokingly replied that his daughter, Helen, has supplied him with “very special Band-Aids’”. It’s evident that Ben is on a good journey to recovery, with his family being the best nursing staff.
Since Ben’s surgery, his wife Erin has frequently posted updates about his recovery on her Instagram profile. One of her posts included Ben showered in stuffed animals and a letter of support from Helen.
Since these early post-surgery updates, Ben has almost fully recovered. However, in one of the comments on his recent posts he mentioned that he started rehab, also noting that his recovery process has been smooth so far. Judging by his comments, it’s clear that Ben will be back to full health in no time, and continue renovating homes all across the United States.
