Jaden Newman is an American athlete, born on 23 June 2004, in Orlando, Florida USA. Currently she’s 16 years old and rose to prominence due to her incredible talent at playing basketball.

Family & Childhood

Jaden is the second child of Vivian and Jamie Newman (neé Gonzalez), of Puerto Rican origin. Jaden has a three years older brother named Julian, who has been named one of the most sought-after basketball prodigies of his generation.

Both Jamie and Vivian were avid basketball players during their youth. However, they took different career paths later in life, as Vivian enlisted in the US Navy and Julian studied history and became a high school teacher.

Though Julian has already matriculated from high school, Jaden is currently in her Junior year at Downey Christian School, attended by both her and her brother since primary school. Jaden is set to matriculate in 2023.

Career

First Steps

Jaden Newman started her career very early in life, when she was still attending primary school. At eight years old, Jaden started playing in her school’s varsity division, an incredible accomplishment at her age.

In 2014 Jaden Newman was contacted by Derrick Gibbs – assistant coach of the basketball program of the University of Miami – who informed her and her family of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) interest in recruiting her as part of its prestigious but demanding Division I, based in Florida.

Besides including a generous scholarship for Jaden, the University’s offer consisted of Jaden assisting summer programs at their facilities, which were visited by Jaden soon after receiving the recruitment letter: ‘I thought I was in a dream or something, but it was real, and then we went on the campus and we took a tour and stuff, and we saw the gym. It was fun’.

Thrilled about Jaden becoming one of the youngest athletes to ever be recruited by a University’s basketball program, her family welcomed the news. However, Jaden didn’t accept the program’s offer, as her dream is to attend the University of Connecticut and be part of its basketball team the UConn Huskies.

The interest in Jaden – who at the time averaged 14.8 points per game – was caused by her talent. Her incredible abilities were showcased by the media in light of her own brother’s fame, who took the attention of the sport media at an early age as well.

Following Years

When it comes to basketball, Jaden’s teens were as successful for her as it was her childhood. Her father Jamie, – who is also her and her brother’s coach – has been very focused on training his children, and has been in charge of helping them to develop their inherent abilities.

Due to this, Jaden Newman’s basketball numbers improved with the pass of time. In her last year of primary school, she averaged 30 points per game and by eighth grade she scored 45 points. In preparatory she also became the youngest school basketball player to accumulate 1,000 points in her career, a record set by her own brother shortly before her.

At 14 years old, Jaden set another record by scoring 70 points in a game, showing her prowess at 3-point shootings.

Regarding this milestone in her still-young career, Jaden told ESPN about feeling ‘in the zone’ since the start of the game: ‘Right off the bat, to start the game, I made a 3. That was the first play of the game. That built my confidence’.

Plans for the Future

In the 2019 interview with High Posts Hoops, Jaden Newman revealed she has been receiving several recruitment offers from University programs. However, her dreams fo playing at Connecticut are still alive and strong.

Beside this, Jaden wants to enjoy her time at high school as much as she can, despite the high expectations put on her: ‘Every year, the competition gets more and more competitive. It’s just fun for me. I love playing high school basketball.’

She also talked about the media attention on her, which has put pressure on her over the years due to the fact she’s often recognized by fans in her everyday life: ‘Now, mostly people know who I am, sometimes I wish that no one knew who I was. But I like it most of the time.’

Jaden and her brother are close to each other, as both siblings always show their fraternal love for each other through their social media accounts. However, when it comes to the basketball court, their competitive side always comes to play, and it’s not clear who is the best player out of them: ‘he wins some, I win some. I’d say (it’s) even’.

Media Appearances

Jaden Newman’s talent at playing basketball has not only attracted the attention of sport’s fans, but also from the media, and she’s appeared several times on TV.

When she was only nine years old, she made a brief appearance in “The Queen Latifah Show”, where she outplayed host Queen Latifah and surprised the program’s audience with her outstanding talent.

Then in 2015 she recorded a TV commercial for Foot Locker, along with Stephen Curry from the State Warriors. In the video ad she easily defeats the professional basketball player in a 3-point shooting competition.

Other types of media such as papers and online channels have cast their eyes on Jaden as well. In 2016 she was showcased by the YouTube channel Peacock Kids – in the video shared by the online outlet, Jaden showed her training routine: ‘I trained about 5 to 6 hours a day. I would wake up at 5:30 in the morning and I work-out dribbling and shooting,’ she continued, saying she’s had this routine everyday for years.

In 2019 Jaden and her brother Julian appeared on the online series “No Days Off”, produced by Whistle. Also that year, Jaden and her family started appearing in their own TV series “Hello Newmans”, produced by Overtime.

Personal Life

Information about Jaden Newman’s personal life and romantic partners is unknown, as she decides to keep these details out of the spotlight.

Net Worth

Jaden Newman has an estimated net worth of close to $100,000 as of late 2020. This is a result of her media appearances, as she still hasn’t signed any professional basketball contract.

Physical Appearance

Jaden Newman is a young woman of mixed ethnicity. She has gorgeous facial features and is athletically built. Her weight is unknown, and although she’s only 5ft 4ins (1.65m) tall, this has not affected her ability at playing basketball.

Interesting Facts

Allegedly her parents control her social media accounts – her mother Vivian is her manager.

Although her average points at basketball are impressive, she wants people to focus on other aspects of her play, such as defense and passing.

Her family has a clothing brand name Prodigy, which has helped them to afford a comfortable lifestyle and serves as a retribution for the money media have allegedly profited out of the family, as Jamie Newman told Bleacher Report: ‘If we had 10 cents for every dollar people have made off Julian and Jaden we’d be rich’.

Unfortunately, Jaden receives many wrongly intended messages and requests on her Instagram account: ‘I like having a lot of followers, but the downside is guys who say weird or gross stuff. I mostly try to ignore it’.

Published

on

Who is Rae Carruth?

Former American professional Football Player and convicted murderer Rae Theotis Carruth was born as Rae Lamar Wiggins in Sacramento, California USA on 20 January 1974, making Aquarius his zodiac sign. He spent three seasons playing for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL), and was fired after he was charged and eventually found guilty of conspiring to kill his former girlfriend Cherica Adams, who was at the time pregnant with their son.

Education and early life

Rae and his sister Samel were raised in Sacramento solely by their mother Theodry Carruth, as she divorced their father Charles Wiggins when Rae was still a toddler; Theodry went on to marry her second husband Samuel Carruth, but they divorced when Rae was 14.

Struggling to cope with family issues, as he and his sister were once again raised solely by their mother who worked multiple jobs to financially support them, Rae found comfort in football. He studied at Valley High School and was on the school’s football team, while he was rated to be the best player there.

Rae was offered football scholarships by multiple colleges, and chose to enroll at the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1992.

College football

Rae began playing for the Colorado Boulder Buffaloes as soon as he enrolled at the university, and was during his final year there named to the first-team All-American; his teammates included future professional Football Players Kordell Stewart and Koy Detmer.

Rae graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature in 1996, thus making himself eligible for the NFL draft.

Professional Football Player

Rae was picked by the Carolina Panthers in the first round of the 1997 NFL Draft, and signed a $3.7 million four-year contract with them, which included a signing bonus of $1.3 million.

He started 14 games and caught 48 passes during his rookie season, including four touchdown passes; he was named to the all-rookie team for the 1997 season.

Rae broke his right foot during the first game of the 1998 season, and then caught no passes for the remainder of the season.

He played only the first six games in 1999, catching 14 passes for 200 yards.

Love life and relationships

Rae was in a relationship with Michelle Wright while attending the University, and she gave birth to their son Rae Jr. in 1994. Following their break-up and Rae’s success in football, he was ordered to pay $5,400 as child support; Michelle later testified that she agreed to have Rae pay half of the money, but only if he were to become a better father.

In 1998 and 1999, Rae was in an on-and-off relationship with American real estate agent Cherica Adams, whom he then conspired to kill.

Crime, arrest and conviction

Cherica was shot four times with a Charter Arms revolver on 16 November 1999, in the vicinity of Rae’s house in Charlotte, North Carolina; she was able to call the police, revealing that Rae had stopped his car in front of hers, and that a person from a vehicle next to hers shot her. The police later identified her killer as American nightclub manager and Rae’s friend Van Brett Watkins Sr.

Cherica was taken to a hospital, where she fell into a coma; she was eight months pregnant with Rae’s son, and the doctors had to perform an emergency caesarean section. Rae was arrested and then released on $3 million bail, while he promised to turn himself in if either Cherica or his son died.

The baby, named Chancellor Lee Adams was without oxygen for more than an hour prior to being born, and this caused cerebral palsy and permanent brain damage; he was 21 when he graduated from Vance High School in 2021.

Cherica died on 14 December 1999, nearly a month after she had been admitted to the hospital, but Rae failed to turn himself in as he had promised, so was arrested by police a day later, after they found him hiding in the trunk of his car in front of a motel. The police also found a cell phone, candy bars, clothes, bottles of his urine and $4,000 in the car; following his arrest, the Carolina Panthers waived him and the NFL suspended him indefinitely.

During the trial, the prosecution claimed that Van Brett Watkins Sr. was hired by Rae to kill Cherica because she didn’t want to abort their son, while Rae’s lawyers claimed that Watkins was mad and searching for Rae because of a drug deal gone bad, and that he shot Cherica after asking her about Rae’s whereabouts, and after she ‘flipped him off’.

Rae was found guilty of using an instrument to destroy an unborn child, shooting into an occupied vehicle and conspiracy to commit murder, and was sentenced to spend between 19 and 24 years in jail; if he had been found guilty of first degree murder, he could’ve been executed. Watkins was sentenced to spend between 40 and 50 years behind bars for the murder of Cherica.

Rae had served 18 years when he was released from the Sampson Correctional Institution on 22 October 2018, and he’s since been living in Pennsylvania.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Rae was interested in playing various other sports during his teenage years, including basketball, baseball and tennis.

He was physically highly active during his time with the Carolina Panthers, as he attended all of the team’s training sessions, and also worked out at the gym nearly every day.

It’s believed that Rae was addicted to cocaine prior to being sent to prison, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Cherica’s mother Saundra Adams often spoke badly about Rae in public, and he accused her of lying; Rae sent her a letter in 2018, apologizing for calling her a liar.

Height, eyes and wealth

Rae’s age is 49. He has brown eyes and black hair, is 5ft 11ins (1.8m) tall and weighs around 190lbs (85kgs).

Rae’s net worth’s been estimated at over $10,000, as of May 2023.

From Oregon to UCLA: How Chip Kelly Rebuilt His Coaching Career

Published

on

Who is Chip Kelly?

American Football coach Charles Edward ‘Chip’ Kelly was born in Dover, New Hampshire USA, on 25 November 1963, making Sagittarius his zodiac sign. He’s today the head coach of the University of California, Los Angeles’ Bruins, having gained recognition when he coached the University of Oregon’s Ducks from 2009 through 2012, and led them to four consecutive Bowl Championship Series (BCS) finals, winning the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. This success lead Chip to spend four years coaching in the National Football League (NFL).

Education and early life

Chip was raised in Dover alongside his brother Kevin Kelly, by their father Paul and mother Jean; not many details have been disclosed about Chip’s family, because he respects their privacy, while it’s believed that his brother’s also into sports.

Chip studied at Manchester Central High School and was mostly into playing sports during his time there; he was on his school’s basketball and ice hockey teams, and also enjoyed playing football and baseball with his peers.

He matriculated in 1982, and then found work to financially support himself; it was in 1986 that he chose to enroll at University of New Hampshire, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1990. Chip played football during his four years at the university, mostly in the defensive back position.

Career as a football coach

Chip launched his career as a coach straight out of college, as he was hired to work as a secondary and special teams coach at Columbia University.

In 1991, he was promoted to the Columbia varsity team’s strong safeties and outside linebackers coach, and the following year saw him become the running backs coach at the University of New Hampshire, where he stayed for only a year, as he joined Johns Hopkins University as their defensive coordinator in 1993. He returned to New Hampshire after a year, and coached their running backs in 1994, ‘95 and ‘96, while he spent the 1997 and ‘98 seasons as their offensive line coach.

From 1999 through 2006, Chip worked as the New Hampshire Wildcats’ offensive coordinator, and the year 2004 saw them break 29 offensive school records, while their best season was the 2005, when the Wildcats finished fifth nationally in passing, third in scoring, and second in total offense, while they won 11 of their 13 games. That year, the magazine “American Football Monthly” named Chip amongst ‘college football’s hottest coaches’, while the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston named him College Assistant Coach of the Year.

He joined the Oregon Ducks in 2007 and became their head coach in 2010, and they reached the Rose Bowl in the same year; Chip was their head coach for four seasons, and led them to BCS games in each of these: the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, the 2012 Rose Bowl and the 2013 Fiesta Bowl. He gained a lot of attention after not losing a single game during those four seasons to ‘the Ducks most hated rivals’ the Washington Huskies and the Oregon State Beavers. Chip won numerous accolades in 2010, as he was named Associated Press Coach of the Year, American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coach of the Year and Sporting News Coach of the Year.

It was on 16 January 2013 that Chip became the head coach of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles; the team had finished the 2012 season 4-12, and then under Chip’s guidance, the Eagles had a 10-6 record in the 2013 season, winning the NFC Eastern Division Championship. The Eagles finished the 2014 season with the same record 10-6.

Chip was fired by the Eagles on 29 December 2015, but on 14 January 2016 signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers of NFL; he served as their head coach for the 2016 season, and lost 13 games in a row, so was fired after the season’s end.

He began working for ESPN as their studio analyst on 26 May 2017, and has since 25 November 2017 been working as head football coach at University of California, Los Angeles. Chip and the Los Angeles’ Bruins had a rough 2018 season, winning only three of their 12 games, and they only recovered in 2022, winning their first five games of the season; Chip then signed a two-year extension of the contract, which runs through 2027.

Personal life

Chip doesn’t speak about his personal life in interviews, but it’s known that he was married to non-celebrity American Jennifer Jenkins from 1992 through 1999, and that they don’t have children together. It’s widely believed that it was Jennifer wanting kids that led to their divorce, as Chip preferred to focus on his career, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

Chip hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s maybe been with, he seems to be unattached as of April 2023, was married to Jennifer Jenkins, and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Two books have been published about Chip, both authored by Mark Saltvelt: the first “Lessons from America’s Most Innovative Coach Chip Kelly” was published in 2013, and the second “Controlled Chaos: Chip Kelly’s Football Revolution” in 2015.

Back in 2009, a fan of the Oregon Ducks wrote a letter to the team, demanding to be reimbursed for $439 that he spent to travel to their game, which they lost to the Boise State Broncos 19-8; the game ended when the Ducks’ player LeGarrette Blount punched a Broncos’ player for taunting him. Chip sent a personal check to the fan, who then returned it and thanked Chip for responding, stating that he had copied the check, wanting to frame it on his wall.

Chip’s a fan of famous American actor Robert Downey Jr, and some of his favorite movies include “The Judge”, “Due Date” and “Zodiac”.

Height, eyes and wealth

Chip’s age is 59. He has brown eyes and grey hair, is 6ft (1.83m) tall and weighs around 220lbs (100kgs).

Chip’s net worth’s been estimated at over $25 million, as of April 2023.
