Jane is an American actress and comedian, probably most famous for her work in the comedy sketch show “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL”), in which she was an original cast member from 1975 to 1980, and concurrently had a notable anchorwoman role in “Weekend Update” (1976-1980). Additionally, she is known for her roles in the sitcoms “Kate & Allie” (1984-1989) and “3rd Rock from the Sun” (1996-2001), in addition to many other roles she’s portrayed in her career.

Jane Therese Curtin was born on 6 September 1947, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, the middle child born to John Joseph Curtin and his wife, Mary Constantine. Her cousin is actress and writer Valerie Curtin.

She spent her childhood in Wellesley, Massachusetts, and went to Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart. She would receive an associate degree from Elizabeth Seton Junior College, and then enroll at Northeastern University, attending from 1967 to 1968, then dropping out to pursue a comedic career.

Jane Curtin started her career in comedy in the late ‘60s. In 1972, she joined the comedy group called The Proposition and performed with them. In 1974, Curtin starred in the off-Broadway play “Pretzels”, which she co-wrote.

In 1993, Jane reunited with her former “Saturday Night Live” co-star Dan Aykroyd in the film “Coneheads”.
