Education
At the age of six, Anthony started learning piano, and from 1967 to 1975 he studied under Lowndes Maury. He matriculated from Providence High School in 1977, then attended the University of Southern California School of Music, learning piano and composition, however, withdrew without graduating, but continued studying music. Marinelli also played with the Night Flight band in Los Angeles Jazz Circuit, which featured Billy Childs and Dianne Reeves. In 2001 he was one of the ten conductors selected for the fourth annual Broadcast Music Inc.
Career as a Synthesizer
Anthony developed an interest in Synthesizers at a very young age. He and Brian Banks became a duo, famous for their synthesizer performances, and also teamed-up with Arthur B. Rubinstein and crafted the first-ever digital synthesized score, “Blue Thunder” released in 1983.
Later, the trio teamed up with Cynthia Morrow and created the Beepers, and were involved in the development of the Wargames’s soundtrack. Marinelli and Banks also created Orchestral Mockup, focused on crafting the complete music score, used in the “Color Purple” for Quincy Jones’s soundtrack. This method brought a revolution in the film industry. During an interview with Hollywood Reporter Marinelli stated that “As far as we know, this was the first time this had ever been done”.
Orchestra and Conduction Career
Anthony was also an excellent conductor, working on various movies such as “Flynn (1993)”, “Scar City (1998)” and “The Runner (1999)”. His orchestral works are “In the Family Way (2006)” and “Chapter 27 (2007)”, plus several film soundtracks.
Music Studios
Initially, Marinelli set up his studio at his parent’s house, then shifted to the Hollywood area, and Sonar Productions was born, carrying out individual and group projects.
In 1993 Marinelli created the brand name Music Forever. then in 1998 co-established Levels Audio Post, focused on providing post-production services. With Brian Riordan he co-founded Levels Audio Post in July 1999, and worked on various projects such as “Viva La Bam (2003)”. “Hilary Duff’s Island Bash (2003)” and “The MTV Movie Awards (2003)”. Brian Riordan was nominated for an Emmy Award for the mixing work he did on “American Idol (2003)” and “The Academy Awards Show (2004)”. In August 2004 Riordan bought Marinelli’s interest in the Level Audio Post.

Marinelli has won several Awards, including Cannes Silver (1992), AICP (1994), ADDY (1994) and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series Award, as well as numerous nominations.

Anthony Marinelli and Jill Schoelen married on 17 October 1993, and had two children named Dante and Zach, however, after nine years the couple divorced on 15 December 2002. Marinelli married his second wife, actress Cynthia Noor Gomes on 6 September 2013, and they have one child.
