Who is Karri Turner?
Kari Kathleen Turner was born in Fort Worth, Texas USA, on 21 December 1966 – her zodiac sign is Sagittarius and she holds American nationality. She is an actress who gained recognition after portraying Lieutenant Harriet Sims in the action crime series “JAG”, which aired from 1995 to 2005 and starred David James Elliott, Catherine Bell and Patrick Labyorteaux. The story follows the case of a former Navy fighter pilot – Harmon Rabb – and his lawyers, working in the US Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s office – “JAG” won 12 awards including three Primetime Emmys, and was nominated for 17 others.
Early life and family
Karri was raised as an only child in Bentonville, Arkansas, by her father who was teaching math at a local high school, and her mother who was a theatre actress. Mostly motivated by her mother but also by the actors and actresses she watched perform on TV, Karri became interested in acting and started practicing her skills while attending high school – she was also physically active at the time as she was an avid soccer player. After matriculating in 1984, Karri enrolled at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma to pursue a film degree, however, she soon moved to Southern California and enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theatre in 1988.
Roles in TV series
Before officially launching her acting career, Karri performed with the noted improvisational comedy troupe from California called The Groundlings.
She made her debut TV series appearance in 1994, when she portrayed Tanya Kavasi in two episodes of the sitcom “Wild Oats”, which starred Tim Conlon, Paul Rudd and Paula Marshall, and follows the lives of two 20-year old men Jack Slayton and Brian Grant who are living together in Chicago, Illinois. In 1996, Karri was invited to voice the character Delilah in the helicopter shooter video game “Soviet Strike”, and in the following year she voiced Kathie Lee Gifford in the episode “Weight Gain 4000” of the critically acclaimed adult animated sitcom “South Park”.
Karri went on to appear in a single episode of the sitcom “Suddenly Susan” in 1997, and in the same year played Honey Potts in two episodes of the sitcom “Caroline in the City”, and Tara Scully in two episodes of the science fiction drama “The X-Files”. In 2006, she portrayed the supporting character Lisa in the superhero drama “Heroes”, and then went on to travel to Iraq with fellow comedians Michael McDonald and Kathy Griffin as to perform for the US troops stationed there – Karri’s performance has been featured in the comedy series “My Life on the D-List”, and she’s completed more than 13 United Service Organizations Inc. (USO) tours. Karri has also toured with various other organizations, such as Stars for Stripes and American Freedom Foundation.
Just recently in 2020, she came back to acting when she guest starred as Micki Kaydar in the episode “In the Wind” of the action police procedural series “NCIS”.
Roles in movies
Karri made her debut film appearance in 1997, when she portrayed Wendi in the comedy “Who’s the Caboose?” which was written and directed by Sam Seder and which starred Alex Ferrer and Sarah Silverman – the story follows a group of documentary moviemakers who, instead of making a film about a rare disease which is killing homeless people, decide to make a movie about a comedienne trying to launch her acting career. The film received mixed reviews.
In 2008, Karri portrayed Mom in Minivan, in the action spy comedy movie “Get Smart”, which starred Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway and Alan Arkin, and follows the spy Maxwell Smart as he tries to stop a terrorist attack organized by KAOS, a rival spy agency – the film won three awards and was nominated for six others. In the same year, Karri appeared as Lab Tech 2 in the satirical comedy movie “An American Carol”, which was both written and directed by David Zucker and which starred the late comedian Leslie Nielsen – it is about an anti-American moviemaker visited by three ghosts after he decided to destroy the Fourth of July holiday.
Karri’s final appearance in a movie before she decided to go on tours was in the romantic family comedy “Hurricane in the Rose Garden” in 2009, starring Pascal Atuma and Yun Choi, but which received mostly negative reviews.
Husband and children
Karri has been keeping details of her love life hidden from the media’s attention, but it’s known that she exchanged wedding vows with her non-celebrity other half sometime in the ‘90s, as the two were then seen attending the celebration of the “JAG” series’ 100th episode in 2000. According to the rumors, they were introduced at a party by a mutual friend, started dating only a couple of days later, and were together for around four years before marrying.

Karri hasn’t talked about having any children, but there are pictures on the internet which show Karri with two girls who are believed to be her daughters, however, Karri hasn’t addressed any of the rumors surrounding her love life and her sexuality – there are some fans who believe Karri to be lesbian.

Hobbies and other interests
Karri is a philanthropist who enjoys doing charity work, which is one of the reasons why she went on to perform for the USA troops – she also likes to travel and has combined these two interests by going to wherever US troops are stationed.
She is a lover of animals and had two pet dogs before she left America to go to Iraq. Karri likes to listen to jazz and blues music, and her favorite artists are Frank Sinatra and Aretha Franklin; she also knows how to play the guitar.
In her spare time, Karri likes to watch movies starring her favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Will Smith, Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman, and some of her favorite movies are “I Am Legend”, “The Independence Day” and the franchise “Pirates of the Caribbean”. She is also keen on watching comedy series, and her favorite is “That ’70s Show”.
