Who is Kerith Atkinson?
Kerith Atkinson was born in Brisbane, Queensland Australia, on 21 March 1987 – her zodiac sign is Aries and she holds Australian nationality. She is an actress, perhaps best known for having portrayed the lead character Rita Santos in 57 out of 68 episodes of the adventure comedy series “Mako Mermaids”, created by Jonathan M. Shiff, Mark Shirrefs and Sam Carroll, and which also starred Chai Hansen, Dominic Deutscher and Gemma Forsyth.
The story follows a young man turned into a merman who meets three mermaids at Mako Island – the series was nominated for a Screen Music Award for Best Music for Children’s Television in both 2014 and 2016.
Early life and education
Kerith was raised an only child in Brisbane by her father who was a theatre actor, and her mother who was a cashier at a local supermarket. She grew up watching movies and TV series with her mother, and during her time at elementary school appeared in several plays performed there.
She attended a local high school, and during her junior year launched her acting career by guest starring as Shreena in two episodes of the action adventure series “Farscape”. To remain fit for her roles, Kerith was physically very active at school, as she played soccer and tennis; upon matriculation in 2005, she chose not to pursue a college degree, but to focus on her acting career.
Career as an actress
After making her debut appearance in 2001, Kerith guest starred in single episodes of both the action crime series “Water Rats”, and the drama series “All Saints”, then in 2003 appeared in her first movie – the short thriller film “Missing Pieces” in which she starred alongside Natasha Yantsch.
The year 2007 saw her star as the Farmer’s Wife in the short drama film “Walking Off”; she appeared in her first full-length movie in 2010 – the comedy “Girl Clock!” in which she portrayed the Waitress.
In 2011, she guest starred as Nurse in two episodes of the adventure mystery series “Terra Nova”, and two years later, Kerith played Fiona in a single episode of the adventure series “Reef Doctors”. She appeared in her second full-length film in 2014, entitled “Talking Back at Thunder” written and directed by Aaron Davison, and which starred Steven Tandy and Melanie Zanetti.
In 2015, Kerith guest starred as the Bar Women in the first episode of the mini-series “Texas Rising: The Lost Soldier”, and in the same year starred as Mum in the short film “Imagination Game”, written and directed by Alister Grierson.
The year 2017 saw her star as the Brothel Detective in the drama movie “Australia Day”, which also starred Miah Madden, Elias Anton and Jenny Wu, and is about three people connected by racial prejudice and revenge.
Three of Kerith’s most recent roles have been in the 2019 romantic comedy science fiction movie “A Guide to Dating at the End of the World”, in which she portrayed Alex, guest starring as Dr. Beatrix Henshall in the episode “Facilis Descensus” of the crime mystery series “Harrow” in 2019 and appearing as Loren Diaz in a single episode of the crime series “Reef Break”.
Love life and husband
There are rumors circulating the internet that Kerith is a married woman, and that she exchanged her vows with her husband in 2016 in a private ceremony attended only by their closest friends and family – some of her fans have stated being around to see the ceremony, but no pictures have been provided as the proof of these claims. There are also rumors claiming that Kerith is a lesbian, as she hasn’t talked about any men she might have dated, and her looks have also contributed to the spreading of these rumors but once again, Kerith hasn’t commented on the rumors nor on her sexuality.
It is widely believed that Kerith has been in many short-term relationships, and that none were that good for her to choose to commit to the man/woman. As of August 2020, she is single, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Kerith is a huge lover of animals and has a pet Maltese dog which can often be seen featured in her pictures on Instagram.
She is a supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and has walked in several non-violent protests organized across the US.
Summer is Kerith’s favorite season as she likes to sun tan at the beach as well as to swim in the ocean – she doesn’t like being cold, which is one of the reasons why she likes continues to live in Australia.
Kerith avoids big cities, as she prefers nature, surrounded by trees and animals and has chosen to live somewhere close to the beach away from people, rather than to stay in Australia’s large cities.
