Matthew Champion was born in Woodlands, Texas USA, on 14 February 1995 – his zodiac sign is Aquarius and he holds American nationality. He is a rapper, singer and a songwriter, best known for being a member of the BROCKHAMPTON American boy band.
Early life and education
Matt was raised in Woodlands in a middle-class family – his father is a construction worker who abandoned the family shortly after Matt was born, while his mother is a teacher; he has one sibling.
He had problems while attending elementary school, as he was bullied and ended up having mild depression and anxiety. Music helped him overcome his problems, and when he enrolled at The Woodlands High School, he began writing his own rap lyrics, and there met Kevin Abstract, Merlyn Wood, Ameer Vann, and JOBA with whom he would later form a band. He sang for his friends, and they together performed at several bars around Woodlands. He was also very sporting at high school as he played football and basketball, but after matriculation, Matt decided to focus on his rap career and did not enroll at college.
Career as a rapper
Matt and his friends played together while at high school, and in 2010 Kevin Abstract created a post on the KanyeLive forum asking if there were people who wanted to form a band together, getting 30 answers. Alive Since Forever became active in 2012, and released their first Extended Play (EP) in 2013 entitled “ASF EP”. However, the band split in 2014 to create BROCKHAMPTON, releasing their first single entitled “Bet I” in January 2015. Their second single “Hero” was released on 16 June 2015, while their debut mixtape called “All-American Trash” followed on 24 March 2016.

Their two new singles “Cannon” and “Face” were released in January and May 2017 and were part of their debut album “Saturation”. Some of the other singles included in the album were “Heat”, “Star”, and “Gold” – the album was officially out on 9 June 2017. Their second album “Saturation II” followed on 25 August 2017 with the lead song “Gummy”, while the last album in the trilogy entitled “Saturation III” was released on 15 December 2017 – these three albums together made the group popular in the US.
The band suffered problems and Matt among other members accused Ameer Vann of sexual misconduct which he denied, but was nevertheless removed from the group on 27 May 2018. They did not perform for one month, then in June announced their new album “The Best Years of Our Lives” and released its debut track “Tonya” while the album was renamed to “Iridescence” and released on 21 September 2018. In January 2019, BROCKHAMPTON was nominated for the Best International Group during the BRIT Awards. Their latest album -“Ginger” was released on 21 August 2019.
Matt also launched his solo career in 2015, with his singles “You’re Too Cool For Me” and “Burn”, then his debut album “HARLEY” in March 2017. Some of his other popular solo tracks include “El Dorado” and “Fangs”.
Love life and girlfriend
Matt began dating Jade Holman, an Instagram model, in 2013 shortly after he matriculated from high school. Jade was born in Seattle, Washington USA on 24 August 1998, her zodiac sign is Virgo and she holds American nationality. She is best known for her ‘Backwoodmami’ Instagram account, and her ‘MaltLiquorMami’ Twitter account.
The two dated for three years – and it’s believed that it was the success of Matt’s band and Jade’s jealousy that led to their break-up.
In 2018, Matt began dating another model – Tavia Bonetti – who is currently signed to DT Model Management. Tavia was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, attended Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec and could have been seen in magazines and publications such as “Yume”, “W Magazine”, and “Hypebeast”. The two have been together for nearly two years now, and rumors have it that Matt and Tavia have recently moved in together.

Hobbies and other interests
Matt looks up to artists such as Eminem, Kurt Cobain, and Snoop Dogg, and he grew up listening to their music. He enjoys watching movies with his girlfriend in their spare time – his favorite actor and actress are Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway while some of his favorite movies are “Edward Scissorhands”, “Coming to America”, and “Braveheart”.
He is keen on travelling and has been all around the US touring with his band, while he has also been to Canada and has visited several European countries such as Greece, Portugal and France, with his dream travel destination being Athens in Greece.
He is physically active as he has several training sessions at the gym each week, while he also occasionally plays tennis and soccer with his friends and band colleagues. He likes tasting various cuisines, with his favorite being Italian, but is following a strict diet as he believes it’s as important as working out.
He is a fan of fast cars, and has owned several over the years – his favorite is Shelby GT 500.

Matt is 24 years old. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, is 5ft 7ins (1.7m) tall, and weighs around 157lbs (71kgs). As of early 2020, his net worth is estimated at over $2 million.
