Stephanie Abrams was born in Wellington, Florida USA, on 27 October 1978, so her zodiac sign is Scorpio and she holds American nationality. She is a TV meteorologist, best known for working for The Weather Channel (TWC).
Early life and education
Stephanie was raised in Wellington by her father who is a delivery man working at the local post office, and her mother who is a piano teacher. Stephanie became interested in weather at a very early age, and was fascinated by rain and storms, while she also enjoyed watching TV documentary shows about tornadoes and volcanoes.
She studied at a local high school, where she played tennis and volleyball while she also practiced acting but was never really good at it. She also attended the educational camp called Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.
Upon matriculation, Stephanie enrolled at the University of Florida located in Gainesville, where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest USA academic honor society, and a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, while her minor was mathematics.
She continued her education at Florida State University in Tallahassee, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology. While there, she practiced her on-air skills on the “FSU Live” news and weather program airing on a cable channel in Tallahassee. After her success in the field of meteorology, she served as a teaching assistant at Florida State University.
She is currently a member of both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.
Career as a meteorologist
She launched her career when she started working at the WTXL ABC-affiliated TV station in Tallahassee as their morning meteorologist. She joined The Weather Channel in July 2003 working as their on-air meteorologist, while she was also a reporter and a fill-in until 2005 when she became a co-host of the show “Weekend View”.
Stephanie went on to become a co-host of the show “Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast” in 2006, and then a co-host of “Weather Center” alongside Mike Bettes. She started co-hosting “Wake Up With Al” alongside Al Roker on 20 July 2009, and held the job until 2015 when the show ended.
Her most notable work during that period was covering the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in February 2010.
In 2012, she was an interim weather anchor for the show “Weekend Today”, when both anchors Janice Huff and Bill Karins left. From 2012 to 2013, she was hosting two shows airing on The Weather Channel – “On The Radar” and “Morning Rush” – while she is currently co-hosting the show “American’s Morning Headquarters”, and can often be seen filling in for her friend Roker in “Today”. Although not an actress, Stephanie appeared as herself in the film “Sharknado 2: The Second One”.
Love life and husband
It is widely believed that Stephanie was married to Mike Bettes for four months in 2008. The two met in 2006 while working together, as Mike is a meteorologist as well, and they went on to date for two years before marrying in April 2008; however, the marriage lasted for only four months, as the pair apparently just couldn’t get used to living together.
Michael Bettes was born in Tallmadge, Ohio USA on 9 January 1972 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn and he holds American nationality. He is a meteorologist and a storm chaser, best known for the work he has done for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia.
He attended Ohio State University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in atmospheric sciences and then went on to work at WSYX/WTTE in Columbus, Ohio as a weekend meteorologist. He continued his career at WLOS in Asheville in North Carolina where he was the chief meteorologist before joining The Weather Channel in 2002.
He could have been seen co-hosting “AMHQ: America’s Morning Headquarters” while he is now hosting “Weather Underground”. He met Stephanie while hosting “Abrams & Bettes: Beyond the Forecast” together in 2006, and after he quit in 2009, he hosted “Your Weather Today” until 2012.

He has been on the scene during Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Katrina, and has covered many winter storms and floods. In 2013, he and his crew were struck by an EF3 tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma which lifted their SUV 180m in the air and threw it into a field -everybody suffered major injuries, while Mike broke several bones. He has now been married to Allison Chinchar since 2012. Stephanie has reportedly been single since her divorce from Mike, and there’s haven’t been any rumors regarding any men she might have dated.
Hobbies and other interests
Stephanie is physically active and is often out there in the field, while she also enjoys playing tennis and golf with her colleagues from work. Travelling is her main hobby and she has been all around the US for both work and pleasure, and also visited France and England. Her dream travel destination is Paris in France while her favorite cuisine is Italian as she is a huge lover of pizza.
Stephanie enjoys watching movies in her spare time, with some of her favorite actors and actresses being Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried and Courteney Cox while some of her favorite movies are “Dear John”, “Letters to Juliet”, and “The Notebook”.

She also likes to read, with two of her favorite writers being Guillaume Musso and Nicholas Sparks, and some of her favorite books are “Central Park”, “Call from an Angel”, and “Will you be there?” She is a lover of animals, and has a pet dog and a pet cat.
