Sara Aliza Eisen was born in Cincinnati, Ohio USA, on 7 August 1985, so her zodiac sign is Leo and she holds American nationality, but is of part-German ancestry. She is a broadcast journalist, best known for co-hosting the show “Squawk on the Street” for the CNBC network.

Early life and education

Sara was raised in a Jewish family – her mother Dr. Jane Eisen was a pediatric scientist, while her father Dr. Drore Eisen is best known for co-founding CDx Diagnostics, a laboratory that helps people detect and treat cancer. Both of Sara’s paternal grandparents are Holocaust survivors.

Sara attended the Jewish school Camp Ramah where she became interested in acting, and where she learnt how to dance and act. Upon matriculation, she enrolled at New York University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2007. She continued her education at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, from which she obtained her Master’s degree in broadcast journalism in 2009.

Career as a reporter

Sara launched her career as a journalist in 2006, when she joined ForexTV.com as an intern, mostly covering the exchange market.

Upon obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she joined Bloomberg Television where she was in charge of writing packages and helping the production behind the scene, among other things. She got to stay in Hong Kong for four months where she worked, while also getting an opportunity to visit the Philippines and report from there.

After returning from Hong Kong she lived in New York City, working as a production assistant for Bloomberg Television there. She continued covering stories related to money and currencies, and after being praised for her skills, she was invited to co-host the show “Bloomberg Surveillance” alongside Tom Keene, an editor at Bloomberg News.

The job as a host allowed her to cover stories related to Europe’s economic crisis, and she had an opportunity to interview politicians and ministers from several European countries. Two of the most important stories she covered while at Bloomberg TV included the nuclear disaster in Fukushima Daiichi in Japan, and the earthquake that hit Tohoku in 2011.

She became part of the CNBC team in December 2013, when she was invited to start working for them as a correspondent. She soon became the co-anchor of the show “Squawk on the Street”, while she went on to become an anchor of the show “Closing Bell” as well. At the beginning of 2016, she started co-hosting “Worldwide Exchange”.

She has published one college book entitled “Currencies After the Crash: The Uncertain Future of the Global Paper-Based Currency System”.

They became engaged in 2015, and married on 29 May 2016 in a Jewish ceremony held at Weylin B. Seymour in Brooklyn. She gave birth to their son Samuel in December 2017, while their second son Gerson followed in 2019.

Controversy

While reporting for Bloomberg TV on 14 May 2012, Sara’s skirt could have been seen lifted up as she was fixing her microphone, she was not supposed to be in the picture but the cameraman made a mistake.

When she noticed that she was being filmed, she quickly adjusted her skirt but the video of the segment became popular on the internet, especially on reddit.

Hobbies and other interests

Sara likes to taste various cuisines, while she mostly enjoys going to restaurants in New York City, with two of her favorites being Franny’s and Santina. She is keen on watching movies, with some of her favorite actors and actresses being Will Smith, Tom Hanks and Jennifer Aniston, while some of her favorite movies are “Sleepless in Seattle”, “Coming to America”, and “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
