Who is William Levy?

Cuban-American actor and former model William Gutierrez-Levy was born in Cojimar, Havana, Cuba, on 29 August 1980, making his zodiac sign Virgo. He’s appeared in 28 movies and TV series, perhaps known best for playing Christian in the 2016 action science fiction horror movie “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter”, which starred Ali Larter, Iain Glen and Milla Jovovich, and was written and directed by Paul W. S. Anderson. It follows Alice and her colleagues as they’re preparing for a fight against the Umbrella Corporation – the film won two of the five awards for which it was nominated.

Education and early life

William was raised in Cojimar alongside his sister Barbara Gutierrez Levy and brother Jonathan Gutierrez Levy, by their single mother Barbara; although his maternal grandfather was Jewish, he’s revealed that his mother and siblings aren’t religious.

William and his family moved to Miami, Florida when he was 14, and he went on to study at the high school Barbara Goleman Senior; he was mostly into sports during his teenage years, and was on the school’s baseball team.

Upon matriculating in 1998, William enrolled at St. Thomas University, at which he continued playing baseball; he quit after two years and moved to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of acting.

William’s debut TV series role was playing Federico in a 2006 episode of the romantic drama “Mi Vida Eres Tu”, and the following year saw him portray German Torres in 86 episodes of the romantic drama “Olvidarte Jamas”; also in 2007, William appeared in two episodes of the romantic drama “Pasion”, and starred in all the 187 episodes of the romantic crime drama “Acorralada”.

In 2008 and 2009, he played the lead character Juan Miguel in all the 194 episodes of the romantic drama “Don’t Mess with an Angel”, which also starred Maite Perroni and Tania Palaiologou, and follows an orphan girl who’s found her family after years of search, while she’s now fallen in love with a man from a wealthy family. The year 2009 also saw William play Alejandro Lombardo in all the 95 episodes of the romantic drama “Sortilegio”.

In 2010 and 2011, he starred as Maximiliano Sandoval in all the 176 episodes of the romantic thriller “Triumfo del Amor”, which also starred Victoria Ruffo and Maite Perroni, and follows an aspiring model who’s fallen in love with a wealthy man who works at a fashion house. The year 2012 saw William play Antonio in four episodes of the romantic comedy “Single Ladies”, while he then starred as Damian Fabre in all the 122 episodes of the 2013 romantic drama “The Tempest”.

In 2018 and 2019, he portrayed Mateo in 18 episodes of the popular musical “Star”, and in 2021, William starred as Sebastian Vallejo in all the 92 episodes of the romantic drama “The Scent of Passion”. It also starred Laura London and Ghia Burns, follows a poor harvest girl who’s fallen for a wealthy man, and the movie won three awards.

William’s since appeared in only one TV series, playing Edmundo Dantes in six episodes of the 2023 thriller “Montecristo”; he’s currently shooting for the upcoming series “Vuelve a Mi”.

Roles in movies

William’s debut film role was playing Love Interest in the 2011 music video “Jennifer Lopez Feat. Lil Wayne: I’m Into You”, and the year 2014 saw him play Quinton Canosa in the popular romantic thriller “Addicted”, directed by Bille Woodruff, and which starred Sharon Leal, Boris Kodjoe and John Newberg. It follows a female gallerist who’s fallen in love with a talented painter, while the affair’s about to ruin her life. The year 2014 also saw William appear in the music video “Sharon Leal: Giant” and the comedy “The Single Moms Club”.

In 2016, he played Alejandro in the popular crime action “Term Life”, directed by Peter Billingsley, and which starred Vince Vaughn, Hailee Steinfeld and Bill Paxton. It follows a man who’s about to be killed by hitmen, while he’s trying to stay alive long enough for his life insurance policy to kick in, so that his daughter would receive the money.

William’s also known for portraying a supporting character in the hit 2017 adventure comedy “Girls Trip”, which Malcolm D. Lee directed, and which starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall. It follows four best friends who’ve travelled to New Orleans for the Essence Festival, and the film won 13 of its 55 award nominations.

William’s three most recent movie roles have been in the 2018 romantic comedy “El Fantasma de mi Novia”, the 2019 romantic thriller “Killing Sarai” and the 2021 romantic comedy “South Beach Love”.

Elizabeth gave birth to their son Christopher Alexander in March 2006, and their daughter Kailey Alexandra followed on 6 March 2010.

William’s in a long-term (on-and-off) relationship with Elizabeth Gutierrez as of May 2023, hasn’t married and has two children with Elizabeth.

William converted to Catholicism on 11 July 2009.

Nude photos of William were leaked in May 2012, after he had competed in the show “Dancing with the Stars”; he stated that he wasn’t ashamed of it, and that the photos were made when he was a model and in need of money.

William’s a philanthropist and has volunteered with the TV show “Alianzas que Construyen”, which fixes houses for low-income Mexican families.
