Who is Tim Malone?
Tim Malone was born on 5 April 1984, in Water Mill, New York, USA, and is a real estate agent, but best known for being the fiancé of broadcast journalist Don Lemon. His partner rose to fame as a member of the CCN crew, and has been working as the main presenter of “CNN Tonight” since 2014.
The Riches of Tim Malone
As of early-2020, Tim Malone’s net worth is estimated to be over $10 million, earned through a successful career in real estate, in the highly-competitive yet lucrative real estate market of New York City.
He also benefits a bit from the success of his partner, who has a net worth estimated to be over $3 million.
Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings
Tim grew up in New York, raised by his parents. He didn’t initially desire to pursue a career in real estate, and looked into becoming a journalist. He attended Southampton High School in the the Long Island area of New York, which has around 600 students in attendance annually. After matriculating from high school, he enrolled at Boston College, taking up a degree in journalism/history.
The university started as a small liberal arts college though it has since grown to become one of the more recognized private universities in the area. There are over 9,000 students enrolled annually and they offer various programs. The school is also known to once be the home of prominent actors and politicians.
Path to Real Estate
After completing his degree, he began working for Jukin Media as a sales executive, an entertainment company based in Los Angeles. They sell user-generated videos, handle licensing of videos for third-party use, and negotiate with various video owners.
The company has been in operation since 2009, though Malone didn’t stay there for long as he wasn’t interested in such a career in sales for the long-term. He began pursuing a career in media, joining NBC as an assistant accountant executive, which is a television network and one of the three biggest in the country. It has been in operation since the 1920s, and has a presence across the country through affiliates and owned stations.
He stayed with NBC for seven years, but his career wasn’t progressing so he changed his path and joined the company Billboard as one of its executive directors.
The magazine company is one of the most recognizable names in the music industry, particularly in ranking songs and artists. He stayed there for around a year, and then changed his career path entirely, becoming a real estate agent, a choice which would be his most successful as he flourished in the role. He joined New York’s The Corcoran Group and has since made sales which elevated his wealth.
Fiancé – Don Lemon
Don Lemon is of Creole, French, Cameroonian, Nigerian, and Congolese descent. He attended Baker High School and was a model student.
During this time, he developed an interest in becoming a journalist and after matriculating, he enrolled at Brooklyn College, taking up a degree in broadcast journalism. While attending the school, he had his first experience with the television station WNYW in which he served as a news assistant. He then furthered his studies at Louisiana State University and while doing so, he worked for Fox News as a part of affiliates in nearby locations.
After completing his degree, he was then hired by the NBC affiliate in Philadelphia, but didn’t stay there long, moving to Birmingham, Alabama, and becoming a weekend news anchor.
Other companies he worked for in the next few years include KTVI and WCAU, then he got a taste of working with a major station when he reported for the New York City-based NBC News, becoming a correspondent for several programs, including “NBC Nightly News” and “Today”.
Success in CNN
In 2006, Lemon joined CNN as a reporter – it was hard for him to ascend to a better position, within the company but was able to do so, becoming the presenter of “CNN Tonight” in 2014, a late evening show which features commentary and interviews. For this work, he’s won three regional Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award, given to journalists with outstanding achievements in the field.

As he gained more prominence within the company, he became more outspoken and critical of some policies, and has been a strong voice for helping the African-American community, though this in turn has attracted some controversy.
