Berta Vazquez, whose birth name is Birtukan Tibebe, was born in Kiev, Ukraine, on 28 March 1992 – her zodiac sign is Aries and she holds both Spanish and Ukrainian nationality. She is an actress, singer and a model, who might be known best for her portrayal of one of the lead characters Bisila in the Spanish romantic drama movie “Palm Trees in the Snow” written by Sergio G. Sanchez and Lus Gabas, directed by Fernando Gonzalez Molina and which also starred Mario Casas, Adriana Ugarte and Macarena Garcia. The story follows a woman who decides to go to Africa after finding a letter that her father wrote not long before he died – the film won five awards and was nominated for 11 others.

Berta is also known for being the ex-girlfriend of the popular actor Mario Casas.

Childhood and education

Berta spent the first three years of her life in Kiev where she was raised an only child by her Ukrainian mother who worked at a supermarket, and her Ethiopian father who was without a job most of the time.

Berta moved to Elche in Spain at the age of three when she found a host family and lived with them until old enough to move out. She started practicing dancing at the Paula Yeray School before venturing into the fields of acting and music.

After matriculation in 2010, Berta chose not to enroll at a college but to focus on her career, so aged 18 she moved to live in Madrid, and at the age of 21 sent one of her videos to the Spanish reality talent show “The Voice Spain”, but wasn’t selected to compete in it.

Career as an actress

Berta’s acting career was launched in 2013, when she was cast to play The Party in the short film “L’Agent”, written and directed by Penelope Cruz, and which starred Miguel Angel Silvestre, Irina Shayk and Javier Bardem – it follows a man in a house with many beautiful girls.

She made her debut TV series appearance in 2014, when cast to appear in the episode “Confianza” of the musical “Dreamland”, then in 2016, Berta starred as The Actress in the short comedy movie “Las Pequenas Cosas”, written and directed by Alberto Rodriguez, and which starred the famous French actor Jean Reno – the story follows Jean-Pierre Bertrand who is being taught empathy by his personal assistant. Also in 2016, Berta played Camarera in the science fiction movie “En Tu Cabeza”, written and directed by Daniel Sanchez Arevalo, and which follows Andrea whose job is to go back in time and make her way into people’s minds to remind them of the importance of saving the environment.

In 2017, Berta appeared as Maria, one of the lead characters in 10 episodes of the thriller series “El Accidente”, which also starred Inma Cuesta and Quim Gutierrez, and is about a woman who, after learning that her husband wasn’t in a ‘plane that crashed, starts searching for him – the series was nominated for five awards.

In 2018, Berta portrayed Elena, the lead character in the comedy movie “The Laws of Thermodynamics”, written and directed by Mateo Gil, and is the story of a neurotic scientist who is in love with a model and believes that their relationship is ruled by the laws of Thermodynamics – the film won Mateo a Knight Competition Grand Jury Prize for Best Director.

She went on to appear in the episodes “El Secreto” and “Casada Con Esto” of the comedy series “Paquita Salas”, and was then cast as Estefania ‘Rizos’ Kabila, a main character in the thriller drama series “Vis a Vis”, which aired from 2015 to 2019 and was a hit in Spain, as it won eight awards and was nominated for 26 others.

Berta’s most recent role has been in the 2020 episode “Como Te Quiere Una Madre” of the thriller series “Vis a Vis: El Oasis”.

Love life and relationships

Berta appeared alongside Mario Casas in “Palm Trees in the Snow”, in which their two characters fell in love, and the two started dating in real life before the shooting for the film was completed, and could’ve been seen attending numerous events together.

Most of their fans believed that the two would marry as they were together for close to four years, however, on New Year’s Eve 2018, the two announced that they had separated, without reason. Since then Berta has been very secretive regarding her love life, and hasn’t talked about any men she might have dated.

Before Berta, Mario was in a relationship with Amaia Salamanca, a Spanish actress, and they dated for a year from mid-2008 to mid-2009. From 2011 to 2014, he was in a relationship with Maria Valverde, another Spanish actress, and after he broke up with Berta, Mario started seeing Blanca Suarez, a Spanish actress, and the two were together until mid-2019 – he is single as of October 2020.

Berta is physically very active, as it’s important for her modelling and acting careers to stay fit – she has three to four training sessions at the gym each week, and is following a strict diet,  meaning that she avoids eating fast food and anything with sugar in it.

Berta likes to travel, and has been to several other European countries such as England, France and Italy, and has also been to Africa on many occasions.

Mario Alberto Casas Sierra was born in A Coruna, Galicia, Spain, on 12 June 1986 – his zodiac sign is Gemini and he holds Spanish nationality. He is an actor who might be known best for his portrayal of the lead character in the romantic action movie “Three Steps Above Heaven”, written and directed by Federico Moccia, and which also starred Maria Valverde and Alvaro Cervantes – it follows a reckless man who starts dating a lady. The film won two awards and was nominated for two others.

Mario was raised alongside his four siblings in Barcelona, as his family moved there when he turned four. He began living in Madrid at the age of 18, and his entire family decided to move there with him. His mother Heidi was 17 years old when she gave birth to him while his father Ramon was 19.

He launched his career in 2005 when invited to appear in single episodes of several telenovelas, such as “Obsession”, “Mujeres” and “Motivos Personales”.
