Mabel Brand is the daughter of Russell and his wife, Laura Gallacher; she was born on the 6th November 2016 in England. She is now almost four years old, and can often be seen with her parents in public, especially with Russell.

The two have often gone on daily walks, and are enjoying each other’s company – Russell has said in the interview that he will raise Mabel as gender-neutral. Mabel has a younger sister, Peggy, who was born in 2018.

Mabel Brand’s Father, Russell Brand

Born Russell Edward Brand on the 4th June 1975, in Grays, Essex, England, he is the only child of Barbara Elizabeth and Ronald Henry. His parents divorced when Russell was just six months old and he was to live with his mother. However, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer when he was eight years old, and a year later the disease spread to her breast; during her treatment, Brand was living with relatives.

His problems didn’t stop there, but only intensified, as when he was 14 years old, it was discovered that Russell was suffering from bulimia nervosa, then two years later he left home because of disagreements with his mother’s partner. Once on the street, Russell succumbed to drug use, and sank under the influence of illegal drugs, including amphetamines, LSD, cannabis, and ecstasy. He still matriculated from Grays School, and then attended Italia Conti Academy for a year before he was expelled because of his drug use and poor attendance.

Career

Russell became interested in performing arts while in high school, when he appeared in the play “Bugsy Malone”, and after this continued his work in the acting world as a film extra. It wasn’t until 1994 when he was selected for the role of Shane in the TV series “Mud”, however, he continued to struggle with drug abuse for several years, which marred his career beginnings. Eventually, from 2000 onwards, he became more focused on his career. He made an appearance at the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year final in 2000, and though he wasn’t the winner, Russell was spotted by the Bound and Gagged Comedy Ltd agent Nigel Klarfeld.

His career continued to improve, and he started working as a video journalist on MTV, but left in 2001, after coming to work disguised in Osama bin Laden just a day after the 11 September 2001 attacks, and brought his drug dealer with him. He then launched his own show, “Re: Brand”, a comedy show that he created, and which dealt with various cultural taboos. The show lasted for a season before he went on to host “Big Brother”- related shows.

With his ever-increasing engagement in show business, he also started also developing a career in radio, and further focusing on acting, so Russell was turning into a personality. He starred in the 2008 romantic comedy film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”, then in 2011 he was Arthur in the romantic comedy film of the same name, while from 2018 to 2019 he portrayed Lance Klians in the TV comedy series “Ballers”.

To speak of his accomplishments as a comedian, Russell toured England in 2007 on a tour named “Russell Brand: Only Joking”, while from 2009 onwards he began performing in the US. His first comedy special came out in 2009 – “Russell Brand” – which was his performance in New York.

Since then, Russell has become a comedy star, with performances also in Australia, and his “Russell Brand: Re: Birth” was released as a Netflix special in 2018.

He has hosted several Annual Awards events, including the 2008and 2009  MTV Video Music Awards, while in 2012 he hosted the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, among numerous other events and shows.
