Who is Elaine Hendrix?

American actress, screenwriter and producer Katherine Elaine Hendrix was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on 28 December 1970, making Capricorn her zodiac sign. She’s appeared in nearly 150 movies and TV series, but is probably known best for playing Alexis Carrington in 57 episodes of the drama “Dynasty”, created by Sallie Patrick and Stephanie Savage, and which starred Elizabeth Gillies, Rafael de la Fuente and Robert Christopher Riley. It follows the lives of members of two of the wealthiest families in the US, the series aired from 2017 through 2022 and won one of its four award nominations.

Elaine’s still highly active in the movie industry, and is currently shooting for the upcoming movies “TCB Baby”, “Sweetwater Road”, and “The Country Club”.

Education and early life

Elaine was raised alongside her brother David Maher and sister Stephanie Smith in Oak Ridge, by their father Thomas Hendrix, Jr. and mother Mary; Thomas was serving in the Vietnam War when Elaine was born, and thus her mother named her.

She studied at a local high school, and was passionate about dancing during her time there; she was a member of the Gary Harrison Dance Company, and upon matriculating in 1989 launched her career as both a professional model and dancer.

Elaine modelled for companies such as Sun Microsystems, Mattel and Levi’s, and danced for musicians Keith Sweat, Mc Hammer and Whodini. She moved to Los Angeles, California in 1992, but in the same year was hit by a car, which marked the end of her modelling and dancing career.

Roles in movies

Elaine’s debut film role was playing Kelly, one of the main characters in the 1992 thriller “Last Dance”, which also starred Cynthia Basinet and Kurt T. Williams, and was directed by Tony Markes; it follows a serial killer as he’s murdering contestants at a dance competition. Some of Elaine’s following roles were in the 1993 drama “Laurel Canyon”, and in 1995 the comedy “Road Warriors” and the  romantic comedy “Lover’s Knot”.

In 1998, she played Meredith Blake in the popular adventure comedy “The Parent Trap”, which starred Dennis Quaid and Lindsay Lohan, and was written and directed by Nancy Meyers. It follows identical twins Hallie and Annie who’ve only met now as adults, as they were separated at birth, while they’re now trying to make their parents reconcile; the film won two of its nine award nominations.

The first half of the 2000s saw Elaine appear in the 2002 romantic comedy “Dawg”, the 2003 comedy “The Hebrew Hammer” and the 2004 comedy documentary “What the #$*! Do We (K)now!?” What marked the decade for her was perhaps portraying Coach Roach in the 2009 comedy “Dear Lemon Lima”, written and directed by Suzi Yoonessi, and which starred Savanah Wiltfong, Shayne Topp and Eleanor Hutchins. It follows Vanessa who’s trying to win back Philip, a boy who’s just broken up with her, and the film won six of its 10 award nominations.

The year 2017 saw her play Nurse Marci in the drama “Shot”, directed by Jeremy Kagan, and which starred Noah Wyle, Sharon Leal and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. It follows three lives which are about to be completely changed when a teenager’s gun accidentally goes off.

Some of Elaine’s most recent film roles have been in the 2019 family drama “Adventures of Dally & Spanky”, the 2020 short thriller “Attest”, and the 2021 short animated drama “Dogs Playing Poker” (voice role).

Roles in TV series

Elaine’s debut TV series role was playing Fantasy Girl in the 1992 episode “The Big Sleep… Not!” of the family comedy “Doogie Howser, M. D.”, while the following years saw her appear in an episode of the crime mystery “Fallen Angels”, the comedy “Evening Shade”, and the romantic drama “Days of Our Lives”.

In 1995, she starred as Agent 66 in all the seven episodes of the crime mystery comedy “Get Smart”, created by Michael J. Di Gaetano, and which also starred Don Adams and Andy Dick; the series follows Maxwell Smart and his son Zach who are both secret agents. Elaine appeared in two more TV series in the remainder of the ‘90s: the comedies “Married… with Children” and “The Weber Show”.

From 2003 through 2005, she played Ms. Lischak in 17 episodes of the crime comedy “Joan of Arcadia”, which starred Mary Steenburgen, Joe Mantegna and Amber Tamblyn, and was created by Barbara Hall. It follows God who’s visited a teenage girl, and has given her tasks to do on a daily basis; the series won 10 of its 36 award nominations. The remainder of the 2000s saw Elaine appear in an episode of many series, including the crime action “CSI: Miami”, the fantasy “Ghost Whisperer” and the romantic drama “ER”.

In 2015 and 2016, she played Ava in the musical comedy “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll”, created by Denis Leary, who also starred in it alongside John Corbett and Elizabeth Gillies; the series follows a once famous rock ‘n’ roll singer who’s trying to reunite his band, while his talented daughter wants to play with them, as well as to date his guitarist.

Elaine’s three most recent TV series roles have been in the 2019 episode “Pre-Existing: Pilot” of the drama “Aware I’m Rare”, four episodes of the 2020 mystery “Paradise Lost”, and four episodes of the 2021 animated comedy “Momma Named Me Sheriff” (voice role).

Elaine has seven producing credits, which include the 2006 romantic comedy film “Coffee Date”, the 2008 romantic comedy movie “Tru Loved”, and the 2010 comedy film “Good Intentions”.

From 1995 through 1997, she was in a relationship with David Faustino, an American actor, screenwriter and producer; he’s appeared in over 110 movies and TV series, and is probably still known best for starring as Bud Bundy in the comedy series “Married… with Children”, which was also how he and Elaine met.

Since 2015, Elaine’s been in a long-term relationship with Christopher J. Corabi, an American producer and businessman who’s worked as head of business and legal affairs on many popular movies, including the 2013 romantic science fiction “Her”.

Elaine’s yet to speak of other men whom she’s dated; she’s in a long-term relationship with Christopher J. Corabi as of May 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Interesting facts and hobbies

Elaine’s an animal rights activist, and in 2006 became vegan. When not shooting for her movies and TV series, she travels around North America and works with non-profit organizations which aim to help abandoned animals. She founded the charity organization The Pet Matchmaker in 2012, through which she helps people adopt abandoned pets; she’s also today on the board of No to Dog Meat and Stray Rescue of St. Louis.

An Australian Cattle Dog which Elaine rescued in 1999 and named Tiloc made a cameo appearance in the 2001 crime thriller comedy movie “Wish You Were Dead”; the dog was credited as ‘trailer trash dog’. Elaine also rescue the cat Goodie Cornbread in 2005.

One of her closest friends is American actress, screenwriter and producer Lisa Ann Walter.

Amongst Elaine’s favorite actresses are Drew Barrymore and Emma Watson, and some of her favorite movies include “Going the Distance”, “Fever Pitch” and “Blended”.
