Who is Xi Mingze?
Xi Mingze was born on 27 June 1992, in Fujian, China, and is best known for being the only child of the most prominent political leader in China, Xi Jinping. Nicknamed as Xiao Muzi, she is often referred to in the media as China’s princess, or China’s secret princess due to her status as the child of one of the most influential people in the world.

As of early-2020, Xi Mingze’s net worth is unknown, being in a communist society, however, this hasn’t prevented her father amassing a net worth reputedly over $1.5 billion. While he doesn’t earn much from his political position, he and his relatives are known to have built a large business empire.

Early Life and Education
Most of Mingze’s life has been kept away from the spotlight even as her father rose to political power, as he wanted to keep her away from any negative attention. Due to her father’s status, she lived a very reclusive life, trying to keep a low profile as much as she could, which also meant that she had to hide her identity for most of the time, even using pseudonyms in school.
The wealth in her family led her to having a lot of options when it came to schooling.
In 2006, she attended the Hangzhou Foreign Languages School (HFLS) where she focused on the French language. HFLS is one of eight foreign language schools in the country and is considered one of the most prestigious among its kind. After matriculating from high school, she then enrolled at Zhejiang University which is also located in Hangzhou, and is one of the most selective, prestigious, and oldest in the country.
Continued Education and Public Appearance
While she was already a part of a top university, Mingze only stayed there for her freshman year and opted to move to the US so that she could enroll at Harvard University.
The university is often rated the best in the world, and is a member of the prestigious Ivy League, a group of private universities. They are among the oldest in the US, and provide a top-class education with many of their graduates making it big in their respective careers. Harvard is also known to be among the most expensive schools in the world.
While a student, she made her first public appearances during 2008, as a relief worker in the aftermath of the Sichuan earthquake. A few years later, she made her first appearance with her parents, during the Lunar New Year celebration, in Liangjiahe village, Yan’an, Shaanxi.
In 2014, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree and then returned to Beijing, China. Even during her life as a student, she was mostly reclusive.
Father – Xi Jinping
Jinping is the son of Communist revolutionary Xi Zhongsun who was one of those purged during the Cultural Revolution. He was a teenager when his father passed away, and due to his biological connection, he was exiled to Yanchuan County where he lived near the small village of Liangjiahe. During this time, he remained connected politically, and later enrolled at Tsinghua University.
As he grew up, he gained a lot of political clout, particularly in the coastal provinces of China. He was appointed the governor of Zhejiang, and then became the communist party secretary, replacing Chen Liangyu. He was presumed to be the successor of then paramount leader Hu Jintao, serving as vice president from 2008 to 2013.
He was also assigned as the vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, then during the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, he became the first general secretary. In his reign, he began implementing measures of discipline and unity within his party, particularly advocating against corruption, which led to the downfall of many former Communist Party officials.
He tightened a lot of the restrictions in the country, which led to censorship and the country’s notorious mass surveillance.
The Paramount Leader – Xi Jinping
Another move that Jinping set in motion was strict internet censorship in China to help maintain sovereignty over the digital space in the country. He also sought to build strong relationships with other countries, particularly with Japan, other Asian countries, Europe, as well as Africa. His reign has also seen a more aggressive claim on the South China Sea, While he serves in the highest position within the country, he also holds numerous positions in various institutions.
He helped form China’s National Security Commission, and serves as its chairman. He also restructured and modernized the military. Wanting to stay in power longer, he proposed the removal of the term limits for the presidency in 2018. Currently, his titles include Paramount Leader, Leadership Core of the Communist Party of China (CPC), General Secretary of the CPC, President of the CPC, and the chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC). He is an advocate of what he terms as the Chinese Dream inspired by the American Dream. To this end, he also pursues an integration of independent nations such as Hong Kong and Taiwan, wanting them to become a part of China.
Personal Life
Mingze is single and there has been no documentation of any of her romantic endeavors. It’s very difficult for her to engage in a relationship due to her father’s position, and her reclusive personality. She avoided going to a lot of social events even as a student, preferring to stay at home. She has been described as an avid reader, having access to a large collection of books. She is also very interested in fashion.
