Jennifer Irwin was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 17 June 1975 – her zodiac sign is Gemini and she holds Canadian nationality. She is an actress who might still be known best for her portrayal of Linda, one of the lead characters in the romantic comedy series “Still Standing”, created by Diane Burroughs and Joey Gutierrez, and which aired from 2002 to 2006. Jennifer was raised in Toronto alongside her brother, by their father who was a theatre actor and their mother who was a dancer, singer and an actress. She attended a local elementary school at which she was very active, as she was a member of the school’s drama club, and played soccer and tennis. Jennifer was 10 when she made her debut TV series appearance, after being cast to play The Student in two episodes of the family drama mini-series “Anne of Green Gables”. While still attending elementary school, Jennifer also made her debut film appearance in the 1986 biographical drama “Easy Prey”, and then appeared in the 1987 fantasy horror movie “The Gate”.
She continued being active at a local Toronto high school, and after matriculating in 1993 enrolled at McGill University located in Montreal, Quebec, while simultaneously working on her acting career, as the same year saw her play Candy Warren in the episode “The Tale of Locker 22” of the family fantasy series “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”
Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997, and then chose to focus on her acting career.
Roles in movies
Jennifer has been credited with appearing in roughly 55 movies and TV series, and we are about to mention some of her most notable performances in this article.
In 1996, she was cast to play Susan in the romantic comedy film “Mrs Winterbourne”, adapted by Cornell Woolrich from his eponymous novel, directed by Richard Benjamin, and which starred Shirley MacLaine, Ricki Lake and Brendan Fraser. The movie follows 18 years old Connie Doyle who is pregnant and homeless as her boyfriend kicked her out of his house – it won Shirley MacLaine a nomination for a Golden Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical.
The following years saw Jennifer appear in movies such as the 1997 action crime thriller “Melanie Darrow”, the 1998 drama “A Cool, Dry Place” and the 2000 drama “Harlan County War”. She gained recognition in 2002 after being cast to play Jane Curtin, one of the lead characters in the biographical comedy drama “Gilda Radner: It’s Always Something”, written by Gilda Radner, directed by Duane Clark, and which also starred Jami Gertz and Tom Rooney – the film follows the life of Gilda, a famous comedienne.
The year 2010 saw Jennifer play the lead character The Mother in the short comedy “The Vanishing Point”, which also starred Basil Smith and Anthony Crehan, and in 2012 Jennifer portrayed Wendy in the comedy “American Judy”.
