Who is Mia Goth?
British actress Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth was born in Southwark, London, England, on 25 October 1993, meaning that Scorpio’s her zodiac sign. She’s appeared in two TV series and 16 movies, and is probably known best for starring in the title role as Pearl in the eponymous 2022 horror movie, written and directed by Ti West, and which also starred David Corenswet and Tandi Wright. Set in 1918, the movie follows the life of a young girl living on her parents’ farm, and won nine of its 56 award nominations.
Mia’s also known for being the wife of famous American actor and moviemaker Shia LaBeouf.
Education and early life
Mia was raised by her Canadian father and Brazilian mother, while her maternal grandmother is Maria Gladys Mello da Silva, a famous Brazilian actress, and her maternal grandfather Lee Jaffe, an American artist and photographer. Mia has no siblings.
She spent the first five years of her life in Brazil, as her mother was 20 and unable to raise her all by herself, thus seeking her parents’ help; Mia’s father worked on his career in Canada, and only visited occasionally. She was five when she and her mother moved to London, then moved in with Mia’s father in Canada when she was 10; she switched nine schools in only a year, and found it hard to live with her father, which was why Mia and her mother moved back to London when she was 12.

Mia’s debut film role was in the 2013 musical “Future Unlimited: Haunted Love”, while the same year saw her play P in the popular drama “Nymphomaniac: Vol. II”, written and directed by Lars von Trier, and which starred Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard and Willem Dafoe. It follows the life of nymphomaniac Joe, and the movie won 14 of its 43 award nominations.
Some of Mia’s following roles were in the 2014 short thriller “Magpie”, the science fiction thriller “The Survivalist” and thebiographical action adventure “Everest” both in 2015.

Mia’s three most recent film roles have been in 2022 in the animated comedy “The House” (voice role) and the mystery horror thriller “X”, and in 2023 the crime horror mystery “Infinity Pool”; she’s currently shooting for the upcoming movies “MaXXXine” and “Frankenstein”.
Roles in TV series
Mia’s debut TV series role was playing Sophie Campbell in three episodes (2013) of the popular crime mystery “The Tunnel”, which starred Stephen Dillane, Clemence Poesy and Cedric Vieira, and follows two detectives, one French and the other British, as they’re trying to find the killer of a French politician who was found dead on their countries’ border. The series aired from 2013 through 2018, and won eight of its 15 award nominations.
Mia’s only other TV series role has been playing Hannah Hjelmqvist in the 2015 episode “A Lesson in Love” of the crime mystery “Wallander”, which starred Kenneth Branagh, Richard McCabe and Jeany Spark, and follows the life of a Swedish police officer; it aired from 2008 through 2016, and won 12 of its 35 award nominations.
