American actress, screenwriter and director Jordana Spiro was born in New York City, USA, on 12 April 1977, so under the zodiac sign of Aries. She’s had roles in over 50 movies and TV series, produced five and directed four, and is perhaps known best for writing, producing and directing the popular 2018 drama film “Night Comes On”, which starred Jill Rene, Nastashia Fuller and John Earl Jelks. It follows Angel LaMere who’s been released from juvenile detention on her 18th birthday – the film won nine of its 15 award nominations.

Education and early life

Jordana was raised alongside her brother and three sisters in New York City, by their mother Brigitte Spiro and father Harry Spiro Jr; not many details have been disclosed about Jordana’s family, but it’s known that they’re Jewish.

Jordana fell in love with acting while attending Circle in the Square Theatre School, and upon matriculating in 1995, spent half a year studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England; she then transferred to Columbia University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1999.

Jordana returned to Columbia University in 2009 – it took her six years to graduate with a Master of Fine Arts degree in moviemaking.

Jordana’s three most recent TV series roles have been in 11 episodes of the crime action “Blindspot” from 2015 through 2020, 24 episodes of the crime thriller “Ozark” from 2017 through 2022, and the 2022 episode “A Final Call at Forlini’s Bar” of the crime mystery “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.

Jordana’s debut film role was playing Waitress in the 1996 drama “Her Last Chance”, and her following three roles were in the 1996 thriller “If These Walls Could Talk”, the 1999 western horror thriller “From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter”, and the 2004 short drama “The Greener Grass”.

In 2005, she played Sherry in the romantic comedy “Must Love Dogs”, written and directed by Gary David Goldberg, and which starred Diane Lane, John Cusack and Elizabeth Perkins. It follows a pre-school teacher in her 30s who’s looking for a relationship – the film was nominated for a Golden Trailer Award for Best Romance. The remainder of the 2000s saw Jordana appear in the 2006 crime thriller “Alone with Her”, the 2007 romantic drama “Playas Ball” and the 2009 comedy “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard”.

She had only a couple of film roles in the 2010s – what marked the decade for her was perhaps portraying the lead character Francie Deerborne in the 2019 drama “To the Stars”, directed by Martha Stephens, and which also starred Kara Hayward and Tina Parker. The film follows a withdrawn girl who’s befriended a reckless new girl in town, and it won two of its eight award nominations.

Jordana’s three most recent movie roles have been in the horror mystery “Fear Street: Part Two – 1978”, its sequel “Fear Street: Part Three – 1666”, and the thriller comedy “Small Engine Repair”, all released in 2021.

Jordana both produced and directed the 2009 short drama movie “The Off Track”, the 2010 short film “Exit the Castle”, and the 2012 short movie, “Skin”.

Jordana gave birth to their child in the second half of 2014, but she and Matthew are keeping him/her away from media.
