Giannis Sina Ougko Antetokounmpo, also known by the nickname ‘The Greek Freak’, was born on 6 December 1994 under the sign of Sagittarius, in Athens, Greece. There, he was raised in the neighborhood of Sepolia by his father, Charles, a former association football player, and his mother, Veronica, who competed as a high jumper. His parents are immigrants from Nigeria. He has four brothers, named Francis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alexis. Professional Career
Giannis Antetokounmpo began playing basketball at the age of 14. Two years later, he joined the youth squad of Filathlitikos and started playing for them competitively. In 2011, Giannis played in the semi-pro Greek B Basket League for the senior men’s team of Filathlitikos, while he spent the following season playing in the Greek A2 League. In December 2012, Giannis signed a contract over the four next years with Spanish basketball club, called CAI Zaragoza. Since the contract started with the 2013-14 season, Giannis remained with the Filathlitikos in the 2012-13 season, during which he played more than 26 games and averaged 9.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game.

In April 2013, Giannis became eligible to play in the NBA. He was chosen as the 15th overall pick in the first round of the NBA Draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and then signed a rookie contract with the team. Giannis made his NBA debut at the age of 18, which made him one of the youngest NBA players of all time. As a rookie, he appeared in 77 games and averaged 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game, and played in the Rising Stars Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend in New Orleans.
At the end of the rookie season, Giannis was named to the 2013–14 NBA All-Rookie second team.
In September 2016, he signed a $100-million-worth contract over the next four years with the Bucks, and in the following season led the team in all five major statistical categories.
