Who is Antoine Walker?

Antoine Devon Walker was born on 12 August 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and is a retired professional basketball player, known for his career in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He spent most of his career playing with the Boston Celtics, before playing with other teams, most notably winning a championship in 2006 with the Miami Heat.

The Net Worth of Antoine Walker

As of early-2020, Antoine Walker’s net worth is estimated to be over $250,000, earned through a successful career in professional basketball. While he had earned over $100 million thanks to high-valued contracts within the NBA, he developed a gambling addiction which eventually left him in debt, declaring bankruptcy.

Early Life, Education, and College Basketball

At a young age, Antoine showed a lot of dedication to basketball, constantly training and improving his skills, dreaming of becoming a part of the NBA. He attended Mount Carmel High School where he played alongside Donovan McNabb who would later become a professional American Football player – it wasn’t/isn’t uncommon for athletes to play multiple sports in high school. Thanks to his statistics and performance, he was offered a full athletic scholarship at the University of Kentucky and to play for them, competing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I.

He played under Coach Rick Pitino during his time there, and he became a starter during his freshman year, being named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He was named to multiple teams and was awarded multiple honors during his two years in the school. He was also a part of the 1996 Basketball Championship-winning team. After his sophomore year, with prospects on him high, he opted out of his scholarship to pursue a career in the NBA.

Early NBA Career

Walker declared for the 1996 NBA draft and was selected as the sixth overall pick by the Boston Celtics.

He performed well during his rookie season despite the team performing poorly, the lowest they have finished in its entire history. Then Pitino became the coach of the Celtics and utilized him well, leading him to all-star status, reaching highs in many statistics. He was joined by future star Paul Pierce in 1998, forming a talented duo that helped the team reach the play-offs in 2001. They reached the finals of the Eastern Conference, but eventually lost against the New Jersey Nets.

The Celtics failed to reach the play-offs in the following season, and he was then traded with Tony Delk to the Dallas Mavericks. Due to the Mavericks having many high-quality players, he was barely used while with them, and was eventually traded to the Atlanta Hawks.

After spending some time without much attention with the Hawks, he was traded back to the Celtics where he played the remainder of the 2005 season, playing alongside Gary Payton and Al Jefferson.

Championship with Miami and Retirement

Following that season, Antoine was then traded in a large five-team deal, the largest in the history of the NBA, which led him to move to the Miami Heat, reuniting him with Gary Payton. During his time with the Heat, he played mostly from the bench in forward positions. He quickly adjusted to the role and became the team’s sixth-man, and led them in three-point shots and shooting percentages. He continued improving throughout the play-offs and helped with crucial threes during pivotal games in the play-offs.

The team eventually reached the NBA finals after defeating the New Jersey Nets, and in the final series they played against the Dallas Mavericks, with him consistently posting good numbers to help lead the Heat to the championship in six games, playing alongside the likes of Dwayne Wade and Shaquille O’Neal. n the following year, he played nowhere near the level of the previous season, with most of his statistics dipping. The Heat lost during the first round of the play-offs against the Chicago Bulls, after which he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, then after a year to the Memphis Grizzlies before getting waived. Following his release, he briefly played in Puerto Rico and the NBA Development League, hoping to get a chance once more at the NBA, but eventually retired.

Robberies

In 2000, Walker was spending some time with former teammate and close friend Nazr Mohammed when the duo was robbed after leaving a restaurant in Chicago. This would not be the last occurrence of a robbery in his life, as seven years later two criminals discovered the location of his house and robbed him at gunpoint, stlalinge his Mercedes and around $200,000 in merchandise. After the police werecalled, they found his car though it was stripped of many of its expensive customizations. Four men were eventually arrested, with two of the criminals having previously robbed celebrities, including former NBA player Eddy Curry.

Recent Projects and Personal Life

Antoine was engaged to reality television personality Evelyn Lozada from 1998 to 2008, but they called things off. She is best known for being one of the main cast members of “Basketball Wives”. During the latter part of Walker’s career, he suffered from numerous vices including alcohol and gambling which effectively saw him lose most of the wealth he had gained during his career. In 2010 he filed for bankruptcy in Florida, after reporting debts reaching $12.7 million. Most of his real estate and luxury assets had to be sold to cover the debt and the bankruptcy attorney.

Before the filing, he had been arrested several times, trying to write bad checks while spending time in Las Vegas casinos. He had become addicted to gambling, quickly losing as much money as he gained with bad decisions. These habits also led to his noticeably deminished performance in basketball, as he had also gained weight. Many attribute the problems stemming from his break-up with Evelyn Lozada.

With the help of Nazr Mohammed, he was able to work through his debt, and after three years, declared that he was debt-free. In recent years, he’s been working as a basketball analyst, becoming a part of the teams for the SEC Network and 120 Sports.

The Truth About Shawn Oakman: What You Didn’t Know About Him

Published

on

Who is Shawn Oakman?

American Football defensive end Shawn Michael Oakman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, on 7 April 1992, meaning that Aries is his zodiac sign. He’s probably known best for the time which he’s spent playing for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL), while Shawn’s also competed in Champions Indoor Football (CIF), American Arena League (AAL) and the XFL.

Education and early life

Shawn was raised alongside his siblings in Philadelphia, by their mother Vernetta who was a drug addict; she’s now been clean for years, and has revealed in an interview that she wasn’t able to provide a stable home for her children. Vernetta’s also revealed that she was sexually abused as a child, was seven when she began taking psychiatric drugs, and 15 when she took cocaine for the first time. Shawn’s father wasn’t around while he was growing up, and he eventually died from cancer.

Shawn and his siblings tried their best to behave as if they were a normal family, because they were afraid of Child Protective Services splitting them into foster homes; in 2002, when Shawn was 10, his mother was sentenced to a year and a half behind bars for being in possession of a criminal weapon, and was then arrested in 2004 for theft, and in 2005 and 2008 for prostitution. A year later, she was diagnosed with HIV, while she’s today also struggling with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Shawn and his brother Future were sent to live with their cousin Kenn Roberts, an American Army veteran who together with his wife Tracy had previously fostered 13 disadvantaged children; Kenn’s revealed that Shawn had anger issues when he arrived, and that he didn’t want to go to school or talk to anyone.

Shawn thus had to take speech classes, and was given chores by Kenn and his wife, such as walking the dog, cutting the lawn and folding laundry. He found comfort in playing basketball while attending Penn Wood High School, and took his school to the state title during his junior year, however, it was obvious even at that time that Shawn’s future was in football.

He matriculated in 2010 and then enrolled at Penn State University on a football scholarship.

College career

Shawn was redshirted in 2011, and was then dismissed from their football team the Nittany Lions on 27 February 2012, for unknown reasons; this made him transfer to Baylor University in July of the same year.

Shawn had to skip the 2012 football season because of transfer rules, and only began playing for the Baylor Bears in 2013; he was a backup defensive end in 13 games, and finished the season with two sacks and 33 tackles. He made his breakthrough in the 2014 season, recording 11 sacks and 25.5 tackles; he was a consensus All-Big 12 selection, while he earned third-team All-America honors from Associated Press.

Instead of making himself eligible for the National Football League Draft (NFL), Shawn chose to spend another year at Baylor, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015.

Football career

Shawn was arrested on sexual assault charges only two weeks before the 2016 NFL Draft, which made him ‘undraftable’; he indeed wasn’t drafted, but was found not guilty of the sexual assault a couple of months later.

Shawn was signed by the Triangle Torch of the AAL in November 2017, and on 8 March 2018 signed with the Bismarck Bucks of CIF; he then signed with the Austin General of The Spring League on 6 April 2019, and with the West Virginia Roughriders of AAL in June 2019.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL on 16 October 2019, but was waived on 17 December of the same year; the Wildcats re-signed Shawn on 24 January 2020, but his contract was terminated when the league suspended its operations on 10 April 2020.

Shawn signed with the Toronto Argonauts of CFL on 15 February 2021, and in March 2021 played in Fan Controlled Football’s People’s Championship.

Love life and relationships

Shawn shies away from sharing the details of his love life with his fans; it’s known that he’s been in a relationship with several girls, as some have accused him of rape and physical assault, but the names of these girls haven’t been revealed.

There are some people on the internet who believe that Shawn’s struggling with his sexuality, and that he’s actually gay, but this hasn’t been addressed by him.

There are also those who believe that he’s today in a long-term relationship with a non-celebrity Canadian girl, as some have claimed to have seen the two spending time together, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Shawn seems to be unattached as of May 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Problems with the authorities

Shawn was involved in an incident at Penn State University on 25 February 2012, and was charged with retail theft, harassment and disorderly conduct; he had shoved a cashier and fled the scene – this was the incident which led to his dismissal from the university’s football team.

In January 2013, a woman claimed that she’d been physically assaulted by Shawn, and that he had grabbed her under her armpits and pushed her against a brick wall.

He was arrested on 13 April 2016, after a woman accused him of sexual assault. According to the woman, the two had met at a bar and Shawn invited her to his off-campus residence; he then forced her into his bedroom, took her clothes off and raped her. Shawn was indicted on second-degree sexual assault charged on 20 July 2016 by a grand jury in McLennan County, but was found not guilty on 28 February 2019.

Published

on

Who is Jimbo Fisher?

American college football coach and former American Football player John James ‘Jimbo’ Fisher Jr. was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia USA, on 9 October 1965, making Libra his zodiac sign. He’s perhaps known best for the years which he’s spent coaching the Texas A&M Aggies, while he’d previously coached the Florida State Seminoles, leading them to win the 2014 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game.

A couple of other activities in which Jimbo enjoyed taking part included acting, dancing and playing baseball.

He matriculated in 1984, and then enrolled at Clemson University on a baseball scholarship; he transferred to Salem College, and then eventually to Samford University, where he played football for the Samford Bulldogs, and was named Division III National Player of the Year. Jimbo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1988.

Jimbo’s career

Jimbo spent the year 1988 playing for the Chicago Bruisers of the Arena Football League (AFL), and from 1988 through 1990 worked at Samford as a quarterbacks assistant coach. After showing great coaching skills, Jimbo was hired as a full-time quarterbacks coach and offensive co-ordinator.

From 1990 through 1992, he worked at Auburn University as their quarterbacks coach under head coach Terry Bowden, and only left Auburn after Terry resigned and was replaced by Tommy Tuberville in 1998. Jimbo chose to try and become a head coach in the mid-2000s, and was interviewed for the position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2006; the university’s Board of Trustees vetoed his contract offer for unknown reasons. He was then invited to join the University of Alabama’s coaching staff, but instead joined Florida State University as their quarterbacks coach and offensive co-ordinator, replacing coach Jeff Bowden. Jimbo was named ‘head coach in waiting’ after his first year at Florida State, and then signed a $600,000 per year contract; Florida State also promised to pay Jimbo $5 million if he wasn’t promoted to head coach by the end of 2010. After the late American college football coach Robert Cleckler ‘Bobby’ Bowden retired from being the head coach at the university, Jimbo took over the position on 5 January 2010; at a press conference two days later, he revealed that his goal was to make big changes in the team, and announced his coaching staff.

During his first year with the Seminoles, Jimbo led the team to win 10 games in the season, the first time since 2003 and second since 2000; they defeated their in-state rivals the Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes, and reached the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl game, defeating South Carolina.

The Seminoles finished their 2011 season with nine wins and four defeats, and once again defeated both the Gators and the Hurricanes; they also won the Champs Sports Bowl by defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The year 2012 saw them win their first conference title in seven years, when they reached the Orange Bowl and defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies; they were undefeated in the 2013 season, and then had two undefeated seasons in a row.

The Seminoles lost in the Rose Bowl to the Oregon Ducks 59-20, and had the record 10-3 in both of the two following seasons. The team’s performance declined in the years following their 2014 BCS National Championship win, and Jimbo resigned as the Seminoles’ head coach on 1 December 2017.

He accepted the same position at Texas A&M University, and signed a $75 million 10-year contract with the A&M Aggies. Jimbo signed a new contract with the Aggies in December 2021, earning $9 million a year; his 2022 season was the worst that he had with the Aggies, as they won only three of their first nine games.
