Who is David Justice?

Some of the teams he played for during his career include the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, and the New York Yankees.

The Riches of David Justice

As of early-2020, David Justice’s net worth is estimated to be over $40 million, earned largely through a successful career in professional baseball. He played in the MLB for 13 years, and earned numerous lucrative contracts from the teams he played with.

He’s also done a bit of television work, which has contributed to his income.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

At a young age, David showed promise on numerous fronts, excelling in his academics while also showcasing his athletic abilities; due to his talent, he was able to skip two grades of primary school. He attended Covington Latin School in Kentucky, and became a member of the school’s basketball team, in which he broke the record for all-time leading scorer of the school.

His achievements in basketball led him to be offered a scholarship at Thomas More College in Kentucky, where he took up a course in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology.

After completing his degree, he didn’t pursue a career in professional basketball, but instead looked to professional baseball, a sport he was interested in since he was a child. He entered the MLB draft and was selected by the Atlanta Braves. After two years, he made his major league debut, replacing Dale Murphy who had been traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.

A Successful Baseball Career

During his debut season in 1990, Justice quickly became a star, and won the National League’s Rookie of the Year Award with 28 home runs. He continued making a name for himself the following year, as he helped his team rise to the top of the division, though his performance was hampered by a nagging back injury.

Despite that, he was able to help his team reach the World Series. After a year of sub-par performance due to his injury, he bounced back in 1993 and finished third in the Most Valuable Player (MVP) voting, behind Barry Bonds and Lenny Dykstra.

After the 1994 MLB strike, he returned to play the following year and helped the Braves get to the World Series once more. This time, he was in good condition but drew the ire of fans after making a comment against them for the lack of support they were giving. Despite that, he got a crucial home run in the sixth game of the series that helped them win the championship.

With a World Series under his belt, he was expected to perform even better the following year, but his season ended abruptly after he suffered a shoulder separation injury.

Later Baseball Career

In 1997, just before the season started, David was traded to the Cleveland Indians with Marquis Grissom. He continued to excel, and helped his new team get to the World Series. In the next few years, he continued with solid performances, though not as strong as during his time with the Braves. In 2000, he was traded to the New York Mets before getting sent to the Oakland Athletics. He was considered an experiment with the Athletics, who were trying out new strategies. Following his one year with the team, he opted to retire.

While he had a successful professional baseball career, he was also excelling on other fronts, and was even featured in “People” magazine in which named him one of the Most Beautiful People of the year. He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Atlanta Braves, as he was a part of many championship competing lineups with them. In 2007, The Mitchell Report published an article reporting him for the possible use of performance-enhancing drugs, one that has denied in the past. Despite that, the report may have been the reason that he became ineligible for the MLB Hall of Fame as he only got one vote, eliminating him from any future discussions.

Life After MLB

After retiring from the sport, Justice was hired by the sports network ESPN, or Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, as a commentator for professional baseball sportscasts for two years. After his two year run there, he then moved to the YES Network, for which he mainly did coverage of the New York Yankees in a studio setting. The network is known for its close ties to the Yankees, due to being in the same ownership.

He also contributed articles to the network’s website, and hosted the program “Yankees on Deck”. He took a significantly lesser role there in 2007, and after his home was destroyed by the wildfires in California, he never returned to the network.

In 2011, he was portrayed by actor Stephen Bishop in the film “Moneyball”, which starred Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. The film is based on the book “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game” and talks about the Athletics and their manager Billy Beane who implemented a statistical method to recruiting talent, leading to a change in the world of professional baseball.

Personal Life

In 1992, David married actress Halle Berry after being in a relationship for a few years. She was once one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, winning the Academy Award for best actress and appearing in numerous high profile films.

These include playing the role of Storm in the “X-Men” film franchise, and recently appearing in “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”. The couple resided in Sandy Springs, Georgia, and stayed together for four years before separating. They divorced a year later, and Berry even filed for a restraining order against him.

A few years later, he met businesswoman Rebecca Villalobos, who was the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Exotic Spices Calendars. The two married in 2001 and they have three children together. The family was featured in an episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap”, in which his wife developed an interest in acting.

The Truth About Shawn Oakman: What You Didn’t Know About Him

Published

on

Who is Shawn Oakman?

American Football defensive end Shawn Michael Oakman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, on 7 April 1992, meaning that Aries is his zodiac sign. He’s probably known best for the time which he’s spent playing for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL), while Shawn’s also competed in Champions Indoor Football (CIF), American Arena League (AAL) and the XFL.

Education and early life

Shawn was raised alongside his siblings in Philadelphia, by their mother Vernetta who was a drug addict; she’s now been clean for years, and has revealed in an interview that she wasn’t able to provide a stable home for her children. Vernetta’s also revealed that she was sexually abused as a child, was seven when she began taking psychiatric drugs, and 15 when she took cocaine for the first time. Shawn’s father wasn’t around while he was growing up, and he eventually died from cancer.

Shawn and his siblings tried their best to behave as if they were a normal family, because they were afraid of Child Protective Services splitting them into foster homes; in 2002, when Shawn was 10, his mother was sentenced to a year and a half behind bars for being in possession of a criminal weapon, and was then arrested in 2004 for theft, and in 2005 and 2008 for prostitution. A year later, she was diagnosed with HIV, while she’s today also struggling with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Shawn and his brother Future were sent to live with their cousin Kenn Roberts, an American Army veteran who together with his wife Tracy had previously fostered 13 disadvantaged children; Kenn’s revealed that Shawn had anger issues when he arrived, and that he didn’t want to go to school or talk to anyone.

Shawn thus had to take speech classes, and was given chores by Kenn and his wife, such as walking the dog, cutting the lawn and folding laundry. He found comfort in playing basketball while attending Penn Wood High School, and took his school to the state title during his junior year, however, it was obvious even at that time that Shawn’s future was in football.

He matriculated in 2010 and then enrolled at Penn State University on a football scholarship.

College career

Shawn was redshirted in 2011, and was then dismissed from their football team the Nittany Lions on 27 February 2012, for unknown reasons; this made him transfer to Baylor University in July of the same year.

Shawn had to skip the 2012 football season because of transfer rules, and only began playing for the Baylor Bears in 2013; he was a backup defensive end in 13 games, and finished the season with two sacks and 33 tackles. He made his breakthrough in the 2014 season, recording 11 sacks and 25.5 tackles; he was a consensus All-Big 12 selection, while he earned third-team All-America honors from Associated Press.

Instead of making himself eligible for the National Football League Draft (NFL), Shawn chose to spend another year at Baylor, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 2015.

Football career

Shawn was arrested on sexual assault charges only two weeks before the 2016 NFL Draft, which made him ‘undraftable’; he indeed wasn’t drafted, but was found not guilty of the sexual assault a couple of months later.

Shawn was signed by the Triangle Torch of the AAL in November 2017, and on 8 March 2018 signed with the Bismarck Bucks of CIF; he then signed with the Austin General of The Spring League on 6 April 2019, and with the West Virginia Roughriders of AAL in June 2019.

He was drafted by the Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL on 16 October 2019, but was waived on 17 December of the same year; the Wildcats re-signed Shawn on 24 January 2020, but his contract was terminated when the league suspended its operations on 10 April 2020.

Shawn signed with the Toronto Argonauts of CFL on 15 February 2021, and in March 2021 played in Fan Controlled Football’s People’s Championship.

Love life and relationships

Shawn shies away from sharing the details of his love life with his fans; it’s known that he’s been in a relationship with several girls, as some have accused him of rape and physical assault, but the names of these girls haven’t been revealed.

There are some people on the internet who believe that Shawn’s struggling with his sexuality, and that he’s actually gay, but this hasn’t been addressed by him.

There are also those who believe that he’s today in a long-term relationship with a non-celebrity Canadian girl, as some have claimed to have seen the two spending time together, but this hasn’t been confirmed either.

Shawn seems to be unattached as of May 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Problems with the authorities

Shawn was involved in an incident at Penn State University on 25 February 2012, and was charged with retail theft, harassment and disorderly conduct; he had shoved a cashier and fled the scene – this was the incident which led to his dismissal from the university’s football team.

In January 2013, a woman claimed that she’d been physically assaulted by Shawn, and that he had grabbed her under her armpits and pushed her against a brick wall.

He was arrested on 13 April 2016, after a woman accused him of sexual assault. According to the woman, the two had met at a bar and Shawn invited her to his off-campus residence; he then forced her into his bedroom, took her clothes off and raped her. Shawn was indicted on second-degree sexual assault charged on 20 July 2016 by a grand jury in McLennan County, but was found not guilty on 28 February 2019.

Published

on

Who is Jimbo Fisher?

American college football coach and former American Football player John James ‘Jimbo’ Fisher Jr. was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia USA, on 9 October 1965, making Libra his zodiac sign. He’s perhaps known best for the years which he’s spent coaching the Texas A&M Aggies, while he’d previously coached the Florida State Seminoles, leading them to win the 2014 Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship Game.

A couple of other activities in which Jimbo enjoyed taking part included acting, dancing and playing baseball.

He matriculated in 1984, and then enrolled at Clemson University on a baseball scholarship; he transferred to Salem College, and then eventually to Samford University, where he played football for the Samford Bulldogs, and was named Division III National Player of the Year. Jimbo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1988.

Jimbo’s career

Jimbo spent the year 1988 playing for the Chicago Bruisers of the Arena Football League (AFL), and from 1988 through 1990 worked at Samford as a quarterbacks assistant coach. After showing great coaching skills, Jimbo was hired as a full-time quarterbacks coach and offensive co-ordinator.

From 1990 through 1992, he worked at Auburn University as their quarterbacks coach under head coach Terry Bowden, and only left Auburn after Terry resigned and was replaced by Tommy Tuberville in 1998. Jimbo chose to try and become a head coach in the mid-2000s, and was interviewed for the position at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2006; the university’s Board of Trustees vetoed his contract offer for unknown reasons. He was then invited to join the University of Alabama’s coaching staff, but instead joined Florida State University as their quarterbacks coach and offensive co-ordinator, replacing coach Jeff Bowden. Jimbo was named ‘head coach in waiting’ after his first year at Florida State, and then signed a $600,000 per year contract; Florida State also promised to pay Jimbo $5 million if he wasn’t promoted to head coach by the end of 2010. After the late American college football coach Robert Cleckler ‘Bobby’ Bowden retired from being the head coach at the university, Jimbo took over the position on 5 January 2010; at a press conference two days later, he revealed that his goal was to make big changes in the team, and announced his coaching staff.

During his first year with the Seminoles, Jimbo led the team to win 10 games in the season, the first time since 2003 and second since 2000; they defeated their in-state rivals the Florida Gators and the Miami Hurricanes, and reached the 2010 Chick-fil-A Bowl game, defeating South Carolina.

The Seminoles finished their 2011 season with nine wins and four defeats, and once again defeated both the Gators and the Hurricanes; they also won the Champs Sports Bowl by defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The year 2012 saw them win their first conference title in seven years, when they reached the Orange Bowl and defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies; they were undefeated in the 2013 season, and then had two undefeated seasons in a row.

The Seminoles lost in the Rose Bowl to the Oregon Ducks 59-20, and had the record 10-3 in both of the two following seasons. The team’s performance declined in the years following their 2014 BCS National Championship win, and Jimbo resigned as the Seminoles’ head coach on 1 December 2017.

He accepted the same position at Texas A&M University, and signed a $75 million 10-year contract with the A&M Aggies.
