Who is Redd Pepper and what is he doing now?
Richardson ‘Redd Pepper’ Green was born in Barbados, on 23 June 1961 – his zodiac sign is Cancer and he holds both Barbadian and British nationality. He is a voice actor, perhaps still best known for having worked on the theatrical trailer of the historical drama movie “Amistad” in 1997, starring Djimon Hounsou, Matthew McConaughey and Anthony Hopkins, and which is about a ship that was captured by Mende people near Long Island in 1839 – the movie was a huge success as it won 11 awards, and was nominated for 39 others including four Oscars.
Redd is still working as a voice actor but not so often, as he prefers to relax, read books and watch TV.
Childhood, family and education
Redd was raised in a huge family alongside three brothers and six sisters; after turning four, the family moved to London in England. Redd was always very energetic and easily became bored with things. He studied at Sedghill Secondary School in London’s Lewisham area, and upon matriculation in 1979 started working at a McDonald’s restaurant to help support his brothers and sisters. After around a year there, he became a fireman, then after six months started working as a train driver.
Redd would occasionally stop his train between stations, and talk on the loudspeaker system in a very strange and scary voice – after one such performance he was offered a card from a TV executive. After calling him, he started voicing people in TV commercials and ads, before he began narrating movie trailers.
Roles in movies and movie trailers
He made his debut voicing role in 1996, when he narrated the trailer of the American epic science fiction movie “Independence Day” starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum, and which became popular worldwide – it follows the story of America and many other world countries as they unite to fight aliens who are trying to destroy planet Earth.
In the same year, Redd narrated another trailer of a famous movie – the action animated sports comedy “Space Jam”, which included both animated and live action characters, in which the famous basketball player Michael Jordan starred.
In 1997, his voice could have been heard in the trailers of the science fiction adventure film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park”, the science fiction action comedy movie “Men in Black”, and in the period drama “Boogie Nights”. In 1998, Redd narrated the trailer of the science fiction disaster movie “Armageddon”, which starred Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Liv Tyler, and in 1999 narrated the trailer of the supernatural horror movie “The Blair Witch Project”.
He made his debut voicing performance in a movie in 2004, when he lent his voice to Bramph in the English version of the German-Spanish CGI animated movie “Boo, Zino & the Snurks”; in 2005 he voiced Bramph once again in the animated film “Back to Gaya”. In the same year, Redd narrated the trailer of the family comedy film “Are We There Yet?”, and two years later, narrated the trailer of the eponymous film “Are We Done Yet?”, which starred Ice Cube and was directed by Steve Carr.
Also in 2007, Redd worked on the trailer of the comedy movie “Mr. Bean’s Holiday”, and his latest voice role in a movie was in 2019 when he voiced the Plymouth DJ in the American fantasy mystery thriller movie “Serenity”.
Roles in TV series and shows
Redd made his debut TV series appearance in 2007, in a single episode of “Deadline”, and the following years saw him guest star in single episodes of “The Culture Show”, “Celebrity Eggheads” and “The One Show”.
In 2013, he appeared in an episode of the British comedy panel game “Never Mind the Buzzcocks” and he then narrated the series “Golden Joystick Awards: The Briefing”. In 2014, he starred in an episode of the series “How To Be Epic At Everything”, as well as of the British TV variety show “Andy & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway” in 2015.
Three of his most recent appearances in series and shows have been in 2015 in the British reality TV music competition show “The X Factor”, in which he served as the announcer, “The Nightly Show” appearing in five episodes in 2017, and the British television quiz “Pointless” starring in two episodes.
Voicing in video games
Redd has also voiced characters in video games, making his debut performance in 1999 when he lent his voice to both Mike and Shadow Man in the action-adventure game “Shadow Man”. In 2000, he voiced several characters in the game “Imperium Galactica II: Alliances”, the title character in the action game “Blade”, and Drax in the fantasy-themed action role-playing game “Gothic”.

In 2001, he voiced Mike and Shadow Man once again in “Shadow Man: 2econd Coming” and then voiced several characters in the tactical first-person shooter game “Vietcong”.
Three of Redd’s most recent voicing roles in video games have been in “Vietcong: First Alpha” in 2004, “Vietcong: Purple Haze” in 2004 as well as the action role-playing game “Mass Effect: Andromeda” in 2017.
Love life and wife
Redd has been keeping details of his love life hidden from the media’s attention, but it is widely believed that he is a married man, and has been for over 20 years now.
Some of his fans have claimed to have seen him taking walks with his wife and their two children, while others have claimed that Redd is gay which is why he avoids talking about his past and present affairs. Redd hasn’t been seen accompanied by ay women at red carpet events he’s attended, which has only helped the spreading of these rumors.
As he hasn’t talked about having a wife nor his sexuality, Redd is presumed to be single as of August 2020, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and interests
Redd has been a fan of movies since he was a child, and some of his favorite actors of today are Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Angelina Jolie, and some of his favorite movies are “Sleepless in Seattle”, “The Last Samurai” and “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life”.
He has been physically active for over 4 decades now and has several training sessions at the gym each week while he also still plays sports such as tennis, golf and table tennis. He likes to travel, and has been all around the US for both work and pleasure, while he has also been to mainland Europe and Asia on multiple occasions.
Redd is a lover of animals and has had several pets, while dogs are his favorites.
He is also interested in watching Japanese animated movies created by Studio Ghibli, with his favorites being are “Princess Mononoke” and “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”.
