Simon Halls spent his early years in his hometown of Toronto, where he was raised by his parents; however, their names haven’t been revealed. Simon went to Crescent School in Toronto, and then attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute. Upon matriculation, he moved to the US and enrolled into the University of Southern California, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1985.

During the same year, he directed the episode of the FX true crime anthology series “The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story”, then appeared in the role of McCoy Whitman in the NBC sitcom “Will & Grace” (2018-2020). Matt also starred as Larry Trainor / Negative Man in the DC Universe superhero drama series “Doom Patrol” in 2019.
