He became interested in doing comedy at a very early age, and would often perform for his parents and his peers at elementary school. Steven was later encouraged by his high school teacher to try out his acting skills with the school’s drama club, and he went on to appear in several plays, but didn’t became interested in becoming a famous actor. He was physically active as he played soccer and basketball, and upon matriculation in 2008, Steven found a job to financially support himself before he began earning enough money on the internet.
Career as a YouTuber and a social media star
Steven launched his YouTube channel on 19 February 2008, which is today subscribed-to by more than 225,000 people and counts over 12 million views of all his videos combined. He mostly uploads videos taken during his everyday life, and most of these are also comedic – his two most popular videos are “Things Bilingual People Do” as it has been watched over 8.5 million times since 5 March 2015, and “Asian Parents React To I Love You (ORIGINAL)” as it has been watched over one million times since 23 September 2014.
Steven has been working on BuzzFeed’s series of YouTube videos – “Worth It” – for quite a while now, and the 123 videos in this series have been viewed over 36 million times – BuzzFeed’s flagship channel “BuzzFeedVideo” was launched on 10 August 2011, and is today subscribed to by more than 20 million people, and counts over 17 billion views of all the channel’s videos combined.
Steven is also active on Instagram, and is followed by more than 320,000 people, while he’s uploaded around 500 pictures, most of which have been taken during his everyday life.
He has been active on Twitter since October 2009, and is followed by more than 60,000 people.
Working as an executive producer and other credits
In 2019, Steven was invited to serve as the executive producer of six episodes of the series “Worth It: Lifestyle”, then in 2020 he worked on the short documentary movie “Tourist Trapped: Los Angeles”. He has worked on four episodes of the documentary series “Spooky Small Talk”, and nine episodes of another documentary series “Weird (and/or) Wonderful World with Shane (and Ryan)” – Steven has served as the executive producer for 12 episodes of the series “Puppet History”, four episodes of the series “Too Many Spirits”, and eight episodes of the series “Are You Scared?”.

Love life and girlfriend
Steven prefers to keep his personal matters to himself than to share these with the public, but he’s also keen on joking about his relationships. In August 2015, he announced that he’d started a relationship with an Asian girl whom he rated 9.5/10 in one of his YouTube videos – the two dated for around two years before splitting ways for unknown reasons.
After nearly two years of allegedly being single, Steven announced that he was in a new relationship with a girl known as Ying, and he also rated her 9.5/10 – the girl can be seen featured in many of Steven’s YouTube videos, and there have been no rumors nor controversies surrounding the two’s relationship.
As of November 2020, Steven is in a relationship, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Steven likes to travel, and has been to several US states while his most favorite travels have been to Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California, as he has documented these and turned them into videos for his YouTube channel. He likes Asia, and has visited many Asian countries, while he usually travels to China at least once a year, and is somewhat of a celebrity there.
He is a lover of animals and has a pet dog, while his favorite ‘animals’ are sharks – he is against the killing of sharks for their fins, and is a supporter of the organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Steven is also a fighter for human rights, and is today supporting the movement Black Lives Matter.
