Life So Far

Truman grew up quite familiar with the entertainment industry, mainly due to his parents’ work and their associates. He grew close to his father and mother who spent a lot of time with him despite their busy schedules, and with his older brother and two half-siblings from Hanks’ first marriage. While his siblings would pursue their interests in acting like their parents, he wasn’t very keen on pursuing it.

His father never forced him to do anything he didn’t want to do, and he is the only child of Hanks who has not appeared in any cameo in his projects. He attended the private boarding school, The Thatcher School located near Los Angeles.

After matriculating, he enrolled at Stanford University taking up a major in Mathematics – the school is one of the most prestigious in the world. Following his graduation, there hasn’t been a lot of news about him, except that he’s expressed an interest in illustration and photography. He has been seen watching various games of sports teams based in Los Angeles such as the Kings hockey team, and Lakers basketball team.

Mother – Rita Wilson

Rita is of Greek and Bulgarian descent, but as she was born and grew up in Hollywood, she developed an interest in acting at a very young age.

In 1972, she made her first television appearance in an episode of “The Brady Bunch”. From then, she continued her acting work, appearing in numerous popular films from the 1980s up to the 2000s. Some of her most popular projects during this period include “Sleepless in Seattle”, “Jingle All The Way”, and “Runaway Bride”.

Apart from her acting work, she is also a prominent singer and has recorded several albums, and also contributed music to several film and television projects she’s worked on – her latest release is her fourth album called “Halfway to Home”.

In films, she’s been more active in theatre, appearing in productions of ‘Chicago”, “Dinner with Friends”, and “Love, Loss and What I Wore”. She also collaborates frequently with her husband, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Father – Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks is of English and Portuguese descent. He grew up with two younger siblings, but his parents divorced when he was four years old, leading them to be primarily raised by their mother. Due to struggles with finances, the family moved often, and he wasn’t very popular in school. He later became friends with half-siblings from his father’s side, who later remarried.

After matriculating from Skyline High School, he enrolled at Chabot College before moving to California State University, Sacramento to study theatre, as acting became one of his main interests.

He loved watching plays, often on his own. Eventually, he was invited to become an intern at the Great Lakes Theater Festival where he learned a lot about production and acting, and he decided to drop out of college and move to New York City in hopes of gaining roles in the entertainment industry. For most of the 1980s, he appeared in several television programs in minor roles, until he gained a bit of recognition for his work in “Dragnet”.

In 1988, he became a notable Hollywood actor with the success of “Big”, and soon more significant opportunities came his way.

The Success of Tom Hanks

After his breakthrough in the 1980s, he established himself as a superstar in the early-1990s, with an Academy Award-winning performance in “Philadelphia”. The film is known to be one of the first films to tackle AIDS and homosexuality, with Hanks portraying a lawyer who recently contracted the disease. He followed up with another Academy Award-winning performance in “Forrest Gump” in which he portrayed the titular character, a slow-witted man who helps influence events across the US.

The film was a huge success, the second-highest-grossing of the year, and winning numerous awards in the process.

Over the many years, Tom became known for various types of films ranging from romantic comedies to dramas, biographical films, and many more. He is a known collaborator of director Steven Spielberg after the two worked together on “Saving Private Ryan”, with other projects including “Catch Me If You Can”, “The Post”, and “Bridge of Spies”. The two also worked together as producers of “Band of Brothers”, an award-winning miniseries which aired on HBO. Apart from his Academy Awards, he is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom given by President Barack Obama, and of the French Legion of Honor.

Personal Life

Truman Theodore is single and he hasn’t revealed to the public any of his romantic endeavors. He is a very private person, though he opened up about his life as an actor’s son through Reddit on an Ask Me Anything (AMA) post.

In 2020, his father and mother announced that they had contracted the COVID-19 virus, as they were diagnosed with the disease while filming in Australia for the upcoming film “Elvis”. They had contracted the disease before entering the country, and were admitted to the Gold Coast University Hospital. The couple were released after a week, as they only showed very light symptoms of the virus.
