Childhood and education
Wendie was raised in Buffalo by her father Ken Malick who was working as a salesperson, and her mother Gigi, who was a model. Wendie’s paternal grandfather came from Egypt and her last name ‘Malick’ stands for ‘King’ in the Egyptian Arabic language.
Wendie attended Williamsville South High School where she first became interested in acting, and while attending 11th grade she became a member of the school’s drama club, and started appearing in plays performed at school. She was also physically active, playing a variety of sports, and after matriculation in 1969 enrolled at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
A bit of modelling and other business ventures
Wendie then signed to the Wilhelmina modelling agency in Los Angeles, but quit after a year when she was invited to work for Jack French Kemp in Washington, D.C, who was an American politician and a former professional football player. However, after five months she moved to pursue a career as an actress.

Wendie made her debut film appearance when she portrayed Stephie in the comedy “How to Pick Up Girls!” in 1978, which starred Desi Arnaz Jr. and Bess Armstrong, and which follows a shy guy writing a book about how to pick up girls.
She appeared in the comedy movie “Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video” in 1979, before being cast as Philomena in the comedy romance film “A Little Sex” in 1982.

She acted alongside Ryan Reynolds once again in the comedy drama movie “Adventureland” in 2009, before appearing in the romantic comedy “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and the comedy “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard” in the same year.
One of her biggest failures (only in her choice of a movie to act in rather than at her performance) was in 2010, when she appeared in the lowbrow comedy movie “Knucklehead” which garnered only bad critiques. She made up for it in 2011 when she portrayed the main character Kate in the comedy movie “About Fifty”, which also starred Martin Grey and Drew Pillsbury, and which follows two men who are fifty and are trying to feel young again. Love life and husband
In 1979, Wendie met Mitch Glazer who is an American actor, writer, and a producer, and after two and a half years of dating, the two married in January 1982 at a small ceremony attended by their closest friends and family. They decided not to have children but to rather focus on their careers, however, after over seven years of marriage, they divorced on 19 November 1989, and Mitch went on to marry American actress and model Kelly Lynch.
In the early ‘90s, Wendie met Richard Oscar Erickson who is best known for appearing in the drama movie “Thirteen Conversations About One Thing”, and they married on 29 December 1995. The two don’t have any children together, and are rather focused on acting and on doing charity work together in the US as well as in Africa.
Hobbies and other interests
Wendie has been a philanthropist since the launch of her acting career, and she and Richard have helped build homes in Mexico for those living in poverty.
