Who is Finneas O’Connell?

Finneas Baird O’Connell was born in Los Angeles, California USA on 30 July 1997 – his zodiac sign is Leo and he holds American nationality. He is a singer, songwriter, record producer and an actor, who is perhaps widely known for having produced music for many famous artists, including his sister Billie Eilish. He has been awarded five Grammys, two of which were for Album of the Year and Best Engineered Album.

Finneas was raised in Los Angeles alongside his sister, by their father Patrick O’Connell and their mother Maggie Baird, both of whom are musicians.

He was 12 years old when he started taking songwriting classes, and after purchasing the digital audio workshop Logic Pro, Finneas started producing songs as well as writing his own.

He is mostly known for having collaborated with his sister, and after he and Billie were asked by their teacher to write a song together, Finneas gave her the song “Ocean Eyes”, which he initially wrote and produced for himself. In November 2015, Finneas was contacted by his manager who wanted Billie to sign a contract with the company Platoon. and Finneas went on to co-write and produce her debut extended play (EP) “Don’t Smile at Me” which was released in 2017 and reached #14 on the US Billboard 200.

He also worked alongside Billie on her debut full-length album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go”, which came out in 2019 and topped both the US and UK charts.

Finneas also produced Selena Gomez’s song “Lose You to Love Me”, two songs performed by the singer Camila Cabello, and Ashe’s “Moral of the Story” as well.

Finneas is the lead singer of his own band The Slightlys – their debut single “New Girl” came out in 2016. They released a single song in 2017, and then eight songs in the following year. Their first EP came out on 4 October 2019 entitled “Blood Harmony”, and to promote it the band toured around the US, performing in five cities by the end of October. One of his most popular songs – “What They’ll Say About us” – reached #17 on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart.

He made his debut film appearance in 2011, when cast to appear in the comedy “Bad Teacher”, the in 2013 he starred alongside his mother and David Cowgill in the independent movie “Life Inside Out”. He appeared in several episodes of both the mockumentary family sitcom “Modern Family”, and the period crime drama “Aquarius”, and in 2015 Finneas portrayed the supporting character Alistair in the last season of the musical comedy series “Glee”.

Finneas is ‘suffering’ from synesthesia, which is a condition that makes a person feel and see more than other people normally would as the things which would usually stimulate one of human senses stimulate a few senses of synesthetes (people with synesthesia) – this means Finneas is able to ‘see sounds, taste words and feel a sensation on his skin when he smells something’. Perhaps being a vegan has something to do with it?
